Best Clutch...???

hey guys what is the best ACT clutch for the EVO... I know that the exeddy is probly better than anything ACT has to offer but I cant aford it and I need to order a clutch tonight.. I have the following mods now but someday I hope to make close to 400 at the wheels and would like sumthing that would hold up good then too. thanks!

GSC 272 Cams, Full Exhaust, 255 LPH, DYnoflash ECU, Intake, ARP head studs.

For 400whp, I would guess 460 fhp and maybe 400ftlbs of torque maximum. Our street setup will hold up fine. Just like any clutch though, that is as long as you don't cook it to death by excessive slippage. As far as Exedy being better than anything ACT has to offer... I don't care to comment. However, I will say that ACT seems to be good enough for Turbotrix to run consistent 9's on (just one example). They ran the same clutch all year. Don't take my word for it. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

However, please don't think you can't afford an Exedy Clutch that would be well suited for your car.

We not only have our Hyper Series Clutches (Hyper Single, Hyper Twin, Carbon) but we also offer our Stage 1 & Stage 2 Clutches that work with stock or other aftermarket Flywheels.

I have a Stage 1 in my car and I'm running 264/272 cams, FMIC and a 3071R turbo with no power holding issues! Im not a full out racer, but I enjoy comfortable driving in traffic, AND the occassional run at the track (or on the street ).

The part number you would need is 05803 for the Stage 1 or 05952 for the Stage 2.

Good luck, and if you have questions, please feel free to contact me.

Second this, I got my Evo back from the shop last night, new ACT HDSS and a Prostreet flywheel. I've put about 50 miles on it, and all I have to say is "wow". For the money spent, it is, imho, an exceptional combination. Its how the Evo should have been equipped in the beginning

joeycoates and I just finished my ACT 6 puck clutch last night at 3:15a. I don't recommend it for daily driving, but for a weekender or track car it's super cool. Much more on/off than a street disc but it's manageable. Grips like mad, too.
