New noise appeared last night.

Well after a few hard runs (no launches) on my car last night (only WOT after rolling, quick shifting), a new noise has started occuring in 2nd gear. Now when I have my windows rolled up at around 2500 rpm there is a noise that sounds like something vibrating really fast as I pass that 2500rpm mark, but only in 2nd gear. It goes away by 2750-3k rpm and above, and when slowing back down (in gear) while in second, it will make that little vibrating noise as it passes that 2500rpm mark. I thought it might be my steering column vibrating , but it only does it in that gear and sounds , maybe, just maybe thta it may be coming from the Tcase or tranny area if not in the inside of my car. I cant hear it do it with the windows down though. Any idea's?

btw I am also in the need of replacing the small o-ring that goes between the T-case and tranny. It is pinched between the two right now and kinda making the crack between the 2 damp under the car (not majorly leaking). I dont think this has anything to do with it though, not front diff related i wouldnt think.

Don't know what your mods are but my camry started making a low rpm vibration (usually lugging the engine in 2nd from about 2000 rpms). I atribute this to the new aluminium flywheel. Other than that, I got nothing.

Could it be a part of your exhaust system? I'll get an occasional rattle depending on what RPM i'm at.

I think I have the same problem. I am going to check the lower ball joints on the suspension first.

I've had symptoms like that on my Camaro from an exhaust fit issue. Not all exhaust issues are rattles.

That o-ring is on the oil feed hole to the front diff from the tranny, so if you've been leaking and you're low on oil your front diff could be starved of oil.

correct, but i do not think its front diff related. Its only at a certain RPM and isnt loud. That o-ring would have to leak for like a year to even think about being low at the rate it leaks, its not like dripping out or anything. Replacement will be soon of that though.

I understand it's a slow leak, I just didn't want anyone else reading this to misunderstand the purpose of that o-ring.

sweet. Yeah, i understand how that works. Is it a pump, or does the oil just splash over from the tranny side to lube the front diff?
