Plug and Play "Chipping, ECU"
Plug and Play "Chipping, ECU"
Hello -- I was wondering if there are any super easy to install plug in and play systems for the EVO. I'm looking for something that I could plug in for added performance but easily take it out if I have to bring the car to the dealer for work or something like that. IS there anything out there.
I have done many searches but nothing really addresses the issues that I'm asking above.
I have a friend with a Toyota Matrix that has a piggy back system that took him les then 15 min to install and he now has great performance gains. I also have another friend with a audi A4 with a similar system....
Help.. Thanks, CHRIS

An ECU reflash is not detectable for pre-05 Evo's and it is very easy to remove your ECU...
Several piggy-back engine management systems like the Vishnu Xede and TurboXS UTEC are fairly easy to remove as well in case you need to... and if you're looking to pick up an UTEC, I have one for sale ^.^

Here is what I was thinking the other day after watching Trucks on TNT. You see all the time with these Turbo Diesel trucks gaining 150 hp and 300 lb/ft . with a Hyper Tech or Banks plug in reprogramer.
Now I think one of the reasons why they dont have these for the evo is that they make a hell alot more of these Turbo Diesel trucks than the little 4 banger we have.
But what is your thoughts on having a simple plug in and program from one of these manufactures?

Diesel is also a whole other beast. They can crank up the boost in those things with pretty much no worries. They are very strong beefy engines from the get go, with a totally different purpose in life. I don't think you can compare to two. The way you get the same results is flashing your current ECU. AFAIK there's nothing to just plug in like that.
But if they actually had 'em that'd be sweet. I just think there's not much room in our engine to tweak like that. We run high boost from the factory, we just run a little rich which that plug in device could take care of. Other than that I don't think there's much you can do besides modding.

150 hp and 300 tq is from upping the boost and giving more pressure to the diesel sprayers, apples and oranges to the Evo
It's just not that simple to do something like that in the evo. A plug in chip for the evo that could do the same as a reflash would have to cost alot more than the reflash, or the reflash companies would be out of business. As well as the XEDE and UTEX companies produce a programmable plug in chip. Which is better than a standard chip in my opinion. Plus a standard chip gives no flexibility to modifications.
