Ok to leave O2 sensor dangling?

So I picked up a new quieter exhaust (Fujitsubo), but it has no O2 bung, since they don't need those in Japan. Is it ok if I just ziptie the sensor to the chassis? Will that cause a CEL?

I would get an O2 bung welded in, but since the exhaust is one piece I probably wouldn't be able to get it welded until after I've put it on my car (I don't have a car big enough to lug the exhaust around), so I'd probably drive around for a week with the O2 sensor out anyway.

Would it be ok to permanently keep the O2 sensor ziptied to the chassis?

You will throw a CEL code. It's mostly for emissions, so it's not a problem really, but why not just get a CEL eliminator and put it inline? Then no codes, and you don't need to leave it dangling down, where it will likely get ripped off one day.

Good luck!

just pop the grommet in the floor pan in front of passenger seat and pull it up into the interior.

Wow, didn't know there was a grommet in the floor pan. I'll have to take a look.

yes. If it doesn't see exhaust gases it will turn the light on.
