Need Help, Turbo is not doin' well, i think...

well, lets start from the beginning. when i first got my evo i bought an AEM ems from this small shop up in N.C., well when i did that i also asked them to install my greddy oil catch can. well they placed it underneath the intake and well apparently they didn't secure the oil lines going the catch can, it took me a few months to figure out what happened. Turns out the EMS was used and i decided to remove it and a buddy of mine (doug from topspeed) decided he wanted to buy it. well during the removal of the ems i noticed that my intake airfilter was sort of, oily. so i decided to remove the filter and the intake stock pipe and saw the disaster. the oil from the catch can had gone everywhere, i mean it was just all over the intake stock pipe and the airfilter, spilled on over to my transmission, and worst of all, it had gotten into my turbo. i didn't think much of it then, being a newb into the evo world i really didn't realize what had happened.
NOW, i've started to notice that my turbo spools up slower, it's more laggy and it's not putting up the numbers it should. Look at my sig, all those mods and yet i can't seem to break the 330whp mark on pump gas (not even on race gas).
Doug and I have done some troubleshooting, compression test (172,171,170,171, which is good)
changed out the oil and spark plugs before any dyno runs. i checked for boost leaks, but once it builds boost it seems to hold just fine.(weird).
The last thing i did, that i thought might fix the problem, was get the EcuTek flash. Hoping to pull out more power from different areas than the SAFC. Well it didn't work and Im very disappointed. My best guess, and my only guess really, is that my turbo was damaged a long time ago and it has only gotten worse.

If anyone has input, or any ideas why my car is not putting up good numbers, i would greatly appreciate it.

thanx for reading

gonz

I don't see a boost guage anywhere in your list. What is the boost doing?

I agree, You need to see what kind of boost you are putting out now. Oil in the turbo isn't bad, but too much of course is. Do you have the blitz TT with the boost gauge in it? or is that the DC II??

sorry i know don't have the boost gauge listed but i have the avc-r and i also have the Defi BF boost gauge...but boost holds just fine once it spools up (sometimes slowly).

i'll list the boost gauge.

So is it just you "thinking" you aren't spooling up as fast, or are your numbers down from the last time you ran? I hear lots of weird things in my car that end up being my imagination, but if your turbo isn't spooling up as fast, you might wanna get it checked or replace the bearings...

well, get this, i was pushing 325whp, a few weeks ago. Then i got this EcuTek, which has done wonders on other peoples EVOs. first run, it went down to 321whp/and up to 321tq. after that, it fell to 277whp/260tq and it took doug about 2hrs to get it all the **** straight, Air/fuel, timing, etc. and it didn't make anymore power than 328hp(on race gas 114).....the funny thing is that it just spools up weird, sporadic

Yeah, you definately have a problem then. Do you know what all the OCC got to?? Man I hope it's not your turbo though...unless you got the dough to get a new one, and then you just have an excuse to go faster...hehehe.
