Ive been looking at what intercooler to buy for a while now. After 2 months of reading crap - Ive decided on the Nisei. The only thing I dont like about it is the fact that the factory undertray will not fit with it, but I hear the intercooler itself fits liiiikee uhhh glove! I like the Buschur as well but I dont like it's lower IC pipe design, if I plan to upgrade a turbo (other than BR) I have to have a custom lower pipe made

I've got the Injen upper IC piping/intake, so i was looking into the Injen FMIC. It comes with the lower IC piping, so it seems like it would make a great addition. I've also been looking in the AMS, but i think its more expensive than the Injen if u but the AMS lower IC piping in addition to their FMIC. Im not sure which set up to go with, but i have some time to think about it since cams have set me back quite a bit!

this is amazing...really

The Biggest IC is not the best first and foremost....you need to match your IC to the item filling it (ie your turbo). Go to big and you'll get massive lag, as the turbo struggles to fill the IC with air. Conversely, go to small and you'll heatsoak it.

From a pure fitment standpoint, the AMS, Buschur, TXS all look terrific on the car, as does the Ultimate Racing one.

What you need to ask yourself, or someone who can help you on the fluid dynamics side of things, is the endtank design, as well as the cfm's the core will flow. I suspect that pressure drop among the cores posted above is relatively miniscule (I have actually never really seena core that dropped a significant amount of boost, ever, so if anyone can comment, I'd love to learn).

Whatever you do, if you are serious about the performance side, don't but it because one has polished endtanks and one doesn't you can ALWAYS have whatever you get polished.

Also, look into the piping side of things, and make sure your intended piping plays nicely with your intended IC choice and your intended turbo choice down the road. Having built up my own cars for the last ~12 years or so, it pays to be forward thinking - not worth buying the same part 2 x because you didn't ask the right questions

'Two words.......... Endtank Design. That should eliminate about 95% of your choices before you look any further. I bet some of the upper rows on alot of these intercoolers get mightly lonely up there where the "sun don't shine", or should I say "Air don't flow".

Thanks in advance all!
Perrin hands down. you just pull off the bumper & hook it up. the only DOT approved I/C.

The PERRIN Performance front mount intercooler core measures 25"x11.875"x3.5" and stretches across the entire length of the front grill.
Durability is a must for an exposed front mount intercooler. The PERRIN intercoolers bar and plate construction can withstand even the harshest debris.
Always evolving to a better part, the PERRIN front mount intercooler now features cast aluminum end tanks. Cast end tanks allow for smoother airflow across the intercooler core.

PERRIN Performance manufactures the only HUGE front mount intercooler, which retains the factory crash beam. The PERRIN Performance intercooler insures that you have the factory crash and impact protection devices to safeguard you and your family.

this is available for $859 directly off perrin's website www.perrinperformance.com

i'm happy w/ mine, just make sure you get instructions w/ it, also it is a lot heavier than a stocker, so you will need either 2 people when mounting or at least a jack. and if you plan on keeping the undertray on, make sure you measure the clearance of the stock fmic to ground w/o bumper on before taking it off. it will save you a lot of hassles when adjusting the fmic. and yes, you will have to adjust it.

My Injen is great. Fits like stock, no cutting or removing of anything. Get them from www.GSCmotorsports.com

???? Most of the cores out there for the Evo fit this exact same category - ARC, Ultimate Racing, Turbo XS, Injen and others all retain the crash bar in full and are bolt ons

Okay i think i've finally come to a final decision. I've chosen to go with the Buschur IC.

Now I just have one last question. I've heard that the stock undertray needs to be trimmed a little bit.

To the people who have it, how much needs to be trimmed?

The thing is, I now have an APR Carbon Fiber Splitter on my car. It replaced the factory undertray and sits a LITTLE bit lower than where the stock undertray would be.
Here's a pic of how it sits:

Now will I have a problem with fitting the buschur FMIC? I obviously don't want to cut my splitter at all...

So if any1 could give me some input, i'd appreciate it.

Thanks a bunch!
