Read Me!! ACT Clutch review
I just wanted to put in my two cents for anyone considering a new clutch or who needs a new clutch.
I bought my evo used with 21000 miles on it. After launching at 7grand(accident)street racing my buddy(STI) I had damaged my pressure plate and throughout bearing. I decided to go with an ACT HDPP and SD with a Prostreet lightweight flywheel. I had it installed at a local shop and found out i had not broken a stock clutch but an Exedy twin 6 puck clutch. After getting my car back the clutch pedal is quite a bit heavier but i have gotten used to it. After the break in I tested it out from a roll and at wot in 3rd gear at 7 grand i enaged the clutch and my shift out of 3rd was sticky and notchy. Same thing in fourth going into fifth at WOT and 7 Grand. Only at WOT and 7 grand was this problem happening. I became discouraged with this clutch and thought that i might have also damaged my synchro's. I read every post i could about clutch pedal adjustment and clutch problems. I tried twice unsuccessfully to adjust my pedal. After about a week I tried it again last night and I was finally able to adjust it. I only turned it about 1/2 to 1 full rotation and I test drove it. I made a world of difference. The clutch finally works as i hoped it would when I first bought it. Overall I am now completely satisfied with this clutch and I would recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade.
If you do buy this clutch make sure that whoever installs it gives you any paperwork that comes with the clutch refering to adjustment and break so you aren't left in the dark wondering and endlessly searching like I was.

Now go out and buy yourself an ACT clutch

Yes, this is what ACT has said in another thread about the problem you describe:
what having the clutch misadjusted will do is not allow enough air gap between the disc and the pressure plate/flywheel surfaces. At high rpms the windage will tend to drive the disc when it is not supposed to.
act instructions say 2-300 mile break in...
I"m putting mine in this weekend, with a findanza flywheel. Only the flywheel is diff than the one we put in another customers car. Mine is steel and looks very similar to an act type, only it has no name whatsoever marked on it. It weighs in at 10.8 lbs.

I'm running 30 psi on a 2.3 and gt35r with an ACT XTSS and Streetlite flywheel. It was never broken in. We just put it on the dyno right after it was installed with the new motor and turbo. It hasn't slipped at all with over 25 dyno pulls on it. It really is a great clutch for the money. It doesn't shift as well as the multi disk clutches at high rpm, but it definately holds a **** load of power. And its as smooth as stock on the street with no noise, chatter, or vibrations.
i adjust my clutch pedal today.....it works for real........i turned like 2 rotaion on the rod......
1 turn is not engouh..............anyway thanks for the good tip.......i could shift hard at 7k rpm no problem..........my engagement point is right in the middle....perfect~

ACT clutch on BMW 335i
I just wanted to talk about the bad quality of ACT product. I bought a clutch from them that did not even last 150 miles, and I called them and sent them the product and I was told by ACT that the clutch could not resist heat. I drove my car 5 miles to work and back home and did not even race the car. However, due to the bad quality the clutch disintegrated. Horrible customer service as well. They don't know how to talk to their customer. I don't recommend this clutch to anyone. Stay away from doing business with them or you lose your money.
Join date July 2016. 1 post, driving non evo. He's probably making an account on a bunch of forums posting his bad experience. Anywho had got 65k out of a 6 puck act clutch so I can't complain. ACT seems good to me.

It seems you are one of their customer service trying to hide the fact that the quality of the product is bad. I am trying to give people advice not to waste their money on a product that does not even come with a warranty. They say they will give a year warranty, but I promise they won't guarantee their junk quality product. Because they know how junk of a quality their product is. It also does not matter how many posts I have. I just heard about this forum and wanted to share my really bad experience with ACT to others, so they know who they are dealing with. I know whole a lot of people with racing cars as we have car meetings here in NC, and I won't recommend this product to any of them.
My ACT XTSS survived 7k miles and about 30 launches before the retaining ring in the pressure plate for the TOB crack. Which made it so the TOB wouldn't stay in place. I pulled it out, and it had well over 1/2 of its life left. Sent it back to ACT and they repaired it no charge.
I put an Exedy twin in the car since I didn't want to wait, and had plans for more power/torque. But no complaints from me. I have a perfectly good used clutch setup sitting in the shop if I ever need it.

Dank, does that mean I get a cool ACT flair? As a just known customer service person of ACT I do say the pay sucks. I at least would like some trident layer gums for payment.
