Is my clutch gone?

i used to get a slight chatter in first gear every morning. after a few shifts it was gone.

now, im gettig the chatter noticably harder and also doesn't go away after a few shifts.

no more than 5000 miles on this stock clutch.

Clutch feels perfectly fine in any other gear besides first. It seems like it won't engage in first. Even with the pedal almost all the way out it slips and grabs, slips and grabs. ONLY in first.

sounds possible but thats the reason i got warranty service from the dealership (faulty throw out bearing).

possibly they installed incorrectly.

i had the same problem with my car. If the problem goes away after the car warms up, its just because it's cold. If it happens almost everytime easing the clutch out in first gear, then you need a new clutch. Basically if it's worn, its doing that slip/grab thing because it has warp spots where theres no more grabbing material left or it's just smoothed out (like warped rotors). But sometimes this can be simulated by the material being cold, therefore not fully grabbing. hope this helps!

Sam

Edit: forgot to mention, my clutch did this when it started to die, this is how i know about the problem. I replaced my stock clutch at 17K , although it probly could have gone a bit longer, i just had a great opportunity to replace it at the time.
