at 8500 RPM you should be ok with bottom end after that you will need rod bolts and balanced crank..

all names are welcome
I'm running the Ferrea set w/ 272's. Highly recommend - they are more expensive than others though.

Coupled with the cost of install IMO it might be worth spending the money as this is not something you want to do twice.

That's a good price - I paid more I think - however I'll have to look at a breakout of my bill as I got the Ferrea valves as well.

Shouldn't be - but you might want to think about taking the head off & cleaning it up a bit while you're at it. As you have a larger turbo you'll benefit from a ported head. Again, do it right the first time.

Depends on what your goals are though.

Well Az3ar, if you find anyone in the NOVA area that will do this install and/or port the head while they're at it, let me know. Turbotrix wanted to pull the whole head too, I think install was in the grands.

check Tomei & JUN. you also want to make sure you get cam gears, head bolts, & a new head gasket (no thicker than 1.2mm) as well. then all this will need to be dialed in. the Ferrea valves are xcellent & they are 1mm larger than stock. if you're going to rev that high, i might recommend some HKS pistons & rings as well. better safe than sorry. or you could just buy a Tomei 2.2L motor which revs to 9k & puts out 450PS on a stock turbo. imagine the power on an aftermarket huffer with that motor...

How much are stroker kits? They don't seem to be terribly popular on this forum, but then, it may be the prohibitive cost. If getting springs/retainers installed are going to cost over a grand, you might as well do a stroker kit and/or build the block.

About 300 labor @ Buschur for this. I think I'll hold off.

Thanks for all the info guys... I am really spending my money right now on some serious track days and events.. The car has plenty of power for the track (341WHP). I just want to rev a bit higher than now(now I rev 7800 RPM I want to go up to 8200~8400 RPM) I don’t want to take the head off as it well be costly for me right now.. I will be building the head from point zero and the engine with nice stroker when I hit the 40K mark or when I blow it up but for now I am getting 280 cams, springs and retainers and maybe a bit bigger FMIC... I want to hit the 370~390 mark on pump gas and I will leave it alone until I build the engine from the ground up... I will build it myself with my friend Chris so we can gain more experience on these EVOs (I might want to work on my civic first B18 in a 91 EF )

I am still lost between the supertech, revolver, Ferrea and crowers???

Thanks

if your going to get valve springs and retainers I suggest you get some Ferrea 1mm oversized racing valves and port the head. The shop here is charging me 1100 for the labor. Thats also including installing the 272's and cam gears. Might as well save money on the labor and do it right?

Az3ar,
Im in tha same dilemma...i have the hks 280 cams, probably gonna get the fidanza cam gears even though jarod at buschur racing says its not necessary and most likely will get the ferrea valve spring and retainers from injected performance...he is selling the retainers and valve springs for around $450....still tryin to do more research just to make sure ferrea's r the ones I want....lemme know if u hear anything else on whats recommended with the hks 280's....thnx

I don't know where I heard this or why, but I was recommended to stick with stock size valves, and not to go larger. Aren't the Ferreas a bit bigger?

What I'd like to know is the expected life on those titanium retainers. How often are people changing them out? At what point do they start to gall? Is this a yearly replacement?
