Agency Power BOV, need help
So I ordered the Agency Power BOV and received it late....
http://lancershop.com/customer/produ...&cat=27&page=1
Anyway, I am a doofus and don't know how to properly install it
So the fittings on each end are the same size, and thus it can be installed in at least two ways. Naturally it came with no instructions, and there are none posted for this part on agency-power.com that I could find.
I have the stock air pipe. One end of this thing installs into the top of the intake pipe- but which end? The other end connects to the upper IC pipe. I have tried it both ways (with the chrome adjustment knob pointing to the sky/up, and with it pointing horizontally).
In both orientations, it made the funny fluttering sound that I noticed one time when I accidentally installed my stock BOV backwards. It is worth noting that when I installed it with the knob pointing to the hoizon, the stock vacuum tube is about 3 inches too short to reach the brass nipple and thus I just plugged the line for testing. When installed vertically, it is practically too tall to fit as it bumps into that bit of wiring & the radiator hose.
Next, I don't have any idea on where to adjust the chrome knob with locking nut. It has at least 1" of travel, can be screwed all the way in or far out. Any suggestions on where to start? My goal is to get some whoooshing sound but hope to avoid the rich condition/stalling....
Finally, I think I want to install it so that it is 50%/50% recirc/vent. I have no idea how to accomplish this configuration. There is a removable cover on the side, which I presumed if removed would be 100% VTA. If for nothing other than troubleshooting, I would install it with 100% recirc if I just knew how.
So any and all advice is welcome.
I tried calling the vendor today, next the manufacturer. The person who answered at Agency said it should be pretty self explainatory. Well, I am a dummy and need more help than that. He promised to have someone else call me, which has not happened yet.
Oh, one more thing. Another thread on here says the first gen versions have a defect and they are awaiting the updated unit. Any details on this rumor????
Thanks!

I think it was proven on a thread at NASIOC that Agency Power and Vivid Racing are one in the same
Good luck
The BOV orientation should be like this: Looking down on the adjustment knob, the side port should go to the intake and the port directly below the knob should be attached to the UICP.
Also, the stock vacuum hose needs to be attached. It provides pressure during boost and alows the BOV to open when idling and decelerating, ie no stalling. If you have any more problem feel free to PM me. I am pretty good at adjusting BOV's.

Thanks, JJ. Worked on it some more with my neighbor tonight. Put it on like you said, the spring-actuated end (you can push in on it with your thumb) is connected to the UIC pipe. Compared that with the stock BOV.
Also connected the vacuum line. Reoriented the brass nipple so that vac line would reach comfortably.
Still get the fluttering sound, and it hesitates/acts like it wants to stall when letting off the gas fast. Tried the adjustment knob in the middle, all the way out, and all the way in. No improvement found.
Like I read elsewhere, and was told on the phone by a vendor, it seems that the first batch of these may be defective. It sure would be great if the manufacturer would step up and confirm or deny.
thanks

I would not say that it came very close to stalling. So if I am really mashing the gas, and let off the pedal, it makes a fluttery sound for say a second or less while the rpms drop. It acts kinda like the engine is trying to stall, a little. Not so bad that I have to quickly mash the gas to keep it running.
I tried it with the knob somewhere in the middle, all the way out, then all the way in. It seemed to act & sound the same no matter what. I only tested with it for about 3 miles/10 minutes. Did I mention that you can push the spring in with your thumb, and it moves, with about the same force/resistance as the stocker? I mean it isn't siezed or anything.

It sounds like they are putting in a very stiff spring in order to "help" the stalling problem that is associated w/ VTA BOV's. Without physically seeing what is going on, I don't think you have a defective BOV. If you're going to run 50/50 then pull off the plate and turn the knob to increase the spring pressure. I can tell you right now that you'll get some compressor surge on part throttle, but it should keep it from stalling. If I were you, I would return it and get a Forge or at least a Greddy Type S recirc valve. IMHO
I got the silver bov, i tried many different times to adjust this bov. till i got it almost just right for my car wth no stalling. first i put a longer hose that goes from the bov to the intake so the valve adjusting screw wont be in contact with the fan, so now it's just above the fan. second, i got it at 50/50 recycle, with the adjusting screw almost out. since the valve sits just under neath the hood opening i got a pair of longer screws and spacers that i'm using to put the cover back on the valve an still have an opening on the valve to have it recycle at 50/50. this way when it rains, water won't go directly on to the piston inside of the bov. it works for me.
Grrr... anyone installed it OK and have pics?
Trying to install mine and would like to orient it as the stock but the brass nipple for the small vacuum line then points down and the stock line won't reach it ???
What'm I doin' wrong?
