To convert the car to be dynoed help
I have the whole transmission and transfercase torn apart ( http://www.thedrunken.com/gallery/album87 )
I heard that you need to remove the ring gear from the transfer case somehow and some other crap but I have no idea on how exactly to do it. Someone that has done it before ( Buschur, Turbotrix, Dynoflash, AMS, etc.. ) please let me know. Thanks!

Yes.. otherwise I dont think I would need to convert anything at all
I have everything apart right now and it would extremely easy for me to do it at this time. There is an AWD dyno in Chicago which isnt too far of a drive anyways but it is alot cheaper and easier for me to dyno it in town on a 2 wheel and since everything is apart anyways I figured i might as well do it. Hopefully someone might be able to provide some help

You need to pull out the viscous coupler from the transfer case and weld it up. Only bad part is you can not drive your car on the street with it welded. So you will need a spare transfer case to tear up. Best bet is finding someone who broke their TC and purchase it just for the VC.
That would be correct for a dsm. You would weld it up and remove the transfer case. You cant do that for our cars. Thanks though... anyone that has done this on an Evo please help.
I guess i dont understand then. I can understand welding the viscous. How do you make it so it wont drive the rear wheels? Do you remove the ring gear from the center diff housing and get a new plate to put in its place or what? Exactly what do you need to do. Obviously more than just weld the viscous.

Remove the rear section of drive shaft. Then you must weld the Viscous coupler, if you don't weld it it will just sit there and slip untill the fluid heats up and locks it. Much like a torque converter will, but doing this will burn up the VC. With it welded its locked and can not slip so it will turn the front wheels with the driveshaft disconnected. Once you remove the VC from the TC you will see there are two sections one inside and one outer. You weld the seam locking it in place, thats it. Is very easy to get to and swap out all you need to do is remove both axles and dummy shafts that go into the front diff. Then take the passanger side case off the TC and remve the front diff/ Viscous coupler and weld it.
I see now.. someone told me you needed to do something strange with the ring gear. I guess they were wrong. Ill trade ya a few DSM viscous couplings for one evo one
Or do you know where I could get one for around $100 or so?

You best bet is to call and ask some dealerships if they have any broken TC's laying around.... you will be suprised. Or post a WTB add in the forums.
Almost all TC's that are broke still have a good VC in it because its the stock front diff that breaks.

ok I was looking at a DSM VC unit before which is obvious where to weld it up. Sorry for all the questions but where exactly do you weld on the evo VC? Im holding it in my hands right now and can't make sense of it
