What would it be like running "open header" on Evo?

Ok im familar with running a car open header on a N/A car but next weekend im getting a new downpipe and i was thinking of testing the car on a run with it running no dp, no exh, no nothing basically. So i wanna know what its gonna be like IF i decide to try it out...

1. how loud is it gonna be? N/A cars w/ open header sound as loud as harleys with a V8 sound

2. Hows the spool gonna be? im sure it should spool faster with 0 backpressure

3. Hows the idle? im guessing very bad

4. overall performance.

not sure, but considering there are a lot of catless evos shooting nice fireballs....I wouldn't really recommend this one

yea i know about the open dump valve concept, so basically an evo running no exh would be the same as an open dump valve setup ?

1. VERY LOUD. UNBEARABLE trust me i know from experience (ran no ex after the dp)

2. faster spool and more power (sounds like a bike up top) bad low end throttle response

3. eh its alright, just loud. its bad when the engine is cold.

4. very nice bump in performance. before i had a vishnu stage 1 and i got walked by my friends 300zx after 100 slowwllyy, and after the exhaust removal i was inching (literally) away.

bottom line i dont think its worth it for the attention you get from cops and people if you run this on the street. on the track it should be a different story.

hope this helps

Its loud, pretty much like an NA car but with the turbo whistling sound kinda like an 18 wheeler. Idle is no different and yes the spool up is fast. The car with be a decent amount faster which is why a lot of people run no exhaust at the track.

it's not that loud. I've ridden in that blue evo.

it's a lot quieter than a 5" hks custom intake. A lot quieter.

on that car, it's the cams that makes it sound like all funkified.

sounds like a camero ss.

Don't do it. Possible fire in engine. I've experience it first hand in my Supra. Our turbo cars tend to spit fire if you guys get my drift.

NOOOB

you can't run open header, why would you?

you gotta cap off the oil lines, coolant lines, take off the turbo MANIFOLD (not header honda boys) and the car will sound/idle like **** on 8.9:1 with no torque.

Downpipe, on the other hand is entirely different. it's after the turbo, so it'll sound like *** on gas but the sound will be coming from under your ***.

Unless you're running pig rich, you shouldn't have too big of problems with burning shiet. I'm planning to run a open wastgate on my huge ball bearing turbo, so it'll sound even more like *** on boost. Only problem is, get it to close to electrical or your bumper, and say bye bye to the plastic...
