Can cams increase frequency of P0300?

I am having the P0300 misfire, where a cylinder is being shut down, it happens around 5000 rpms when I'm cruising in 5th gear around 75-85 mph.

It happened ever since I installed an Exedy Hyper Single clutch. I think the harmonics are off and it is making the knock sensor throw the CEL and shut down a piston. The result is decrease in acceleration and a rumbling and shaking sound. When I take my foot off the gas, it stops. But will start up again a few seconds after my foot is on the gas.

So my question is if I got cams, which vibrate more than stock ones, if it would throw the CEL even more? Hence defeating the purpose of even having cams in the first place.

I suffered from exactly the same situation. Since going to V3 on my Xede, it has not reoccurred.

Nevertheless, if you want an easy way out of this problem. Go to Ebay and get a "CReader" OBDII scanner, which will cost you something like $40. Leave it plugged in to the OBDII port and tuck it up in the plastic panel so it remains hidden. So long as you leave it plugged in, you will never get the P0300 and misfire.

Really? Even though I have the Turbotrix ECU flash, it should still stop it? How does it stop the P0300 by just being plugged in?

Yes, it should. Apparently, the misfire does not occur until the P0300 code is flashed. The scanner prevents the code from being flagged, and the misfire never occurs. The only downside is that no other codes will be flagged so long as you have it plugged in. If a problem arises, remove the scanner and allow the ECU to record a code and throw a CEL before scanning to diagnose the problem.
