best way to shift?

When racing do you step on the clutch, shift...completely let the clutch out and then hit the gas. Or do you step on the clutch, shift and while the clutch is half way out you hit the gas?

When drag racing, I am pretty much in constant motion during the shift. The snap motion of my shift is so fast, that I can't say for sure exactly where my pedals are during the process, but I do depress the clutch and lift my foot off the gas on each shift. I don't do one step after the other, though, and I don't lift all the way off the gas. I'm just one step shy of power shifting, which is where you keep your foot on the gas (not flooring it, though) in an effort to keep the rpms all the way up. Even so, once I launch, my RPMs never go below 5400, at least according to my logging device.

I agree. When I'm drag racing the motion is continuous. I do step back on the gas but not all the way off and it is so fast it's hard to say what my pedals are doing.

I leave my foot on the gas the whole time.

I wouldn't try this without some sort of ignition cut when you press on the clutch pedal, though.

After watching the best motoring video I see how these guys shift really fast. I think they let the clutch out all the way and then slam the gas.
