Question Turbo Selection

I have a fairly stock evo right now... I have decided to give in to all of the temptation I've had for the past year and just go ahead and jump in and really mod this thing into a monster (and go in debt for a while lol!). I love to go driving up in the mountains, I h8 drag racing unless its 2 whoop @ss on sum ricer with a lit up tail pipe, and I could care less about off the line performance. However, this is my daily ride, and I don't wan a 600hp all top end beast.

I will be running aem ems with 272 cams, fmic, and all the supporting mods u would need, but i do not want to get so much power I have to build the bottom end. I was torn between the gt30r from rnr or that greddy t67 kit. I searched and searched and found nothin but conflict, so i wanted to ask everyone what they though would be good for my specific car. I thought about 18-20 psi and I really dont want to run alcohol. I would like to achive around 420-450whp. I want REALLY good top end and decent mid range, and i think both of thos setups would give me that... I think that the gt30r would do a lil better in the midrange with it being BB, but I dunno... so there it is... please give me all your opinions cuz this is a big step and i don't wanna blow this thing up or nething cuz like i said it is my daily driver also! thanks in advance!!!

Kit Price Is Good But Read That Spool Up Is At 4500-5000, WHP Made Numbers Are On Race Gas.. look at atp 3037s spools at 3900 and will make more than 500whp..

Right. Just thought the kit looked nice for the price and the manifold and piping are made by B&B.

Stay away from the T67... on an OE 2 liter it is a lag monster. I had one customer who had me remove the Greddy kit and put his Stock turbo back on... he was much happier. For comparison, you would be happier with a GT35R than a T67 for a daily driver. For pump gas stick with the GT30 kits... 3071 being probably the best for the daily driver. However, no matter how offended some may be, I would shy away from the ATP kits as there seem to be many kits out there with better response. If you want to keep your OE manifold, Vishnu has something in the works. Otherwise, AMS, Turbo Trix, (not RNR), etc, etc, are your better choices...

Buschur 21G will get you the 420whp you want...

or since you'll be running the EMS and lots of other mods... the stock turbo can also get you that 420whp too.

It all depends on what you really want. I have ridden in two AMS GT35R Evos, both were insane. Unlike what most ppl claim, the AMS GT35R kit spools up fairly smoothly, didn't really seem terribly laggy at all on 93 Octane, and on race gas ... more power than I could hope to handle anytime soon, that's for sure.

Having said that - I (and my wallet) voted for AMS ... 3071R kit and built 2.0l in the works ... only ~2 weeks to go.... wohoo!

I think you can get everything you want from a variant of the stock turbo with proper supporting mods and keep the stock ECU. For a reliable daily driver I would stay away from the AEM at all costs unless you have an unlimited supply or time OR money.. Plus you cant pass emissions with the AEM.

Feel free to PM me, we have quite a strong Evo group in the Hickory NC area. There are quite a few cars for you to ride in to get a feel of how strong a good running stock turbo car can be. You can make good top end power and have the crazy response of the stock turbo.

10.5 hotside is all you need. Like Brian said, go with the proper supporting mods. If you really are itching to spend some money do the 6.5 TME.

Stock turbo, ecu flash, and cams can make 340whp alone (with intake and exhaust upgrade).

Fuel Pump (Walbro)
Intercooler Piping (Helix)

I suggest 264/264 cams if you want a good idle and good torque.
