I have never touched my oil pan on the EVO, but all my other cars only used high temp silicone sealant for the oil pan.

I haven't had the oil pan on my Evo off yet, but on other 4G63s (DSMs) that I've worked on, there is in fact no oil pan gasket. Mitsu uses a sealant instead. I have always used Permatex Ultra Grey RTV and haven't had a leak in any of them yet.

That doesn't mean you wouldn't find an oil pan gasket for it from FelPro or something if you wanted to put a gasket in there, but a bead of RTV is probably all that's there from the factory and is all you really need to reinstall it.

Blackevo is correct there is no gasket. Silicone rtv in used from the factory and that is what you use if you ever take the pan down.

Just FYI, the oil pan is a b*tch to get off and the OEM silicon is some really thick stuff (a b*tch to apply)

I took mine off, any hi temp silicone will work fine. The biggest thing is taking a razor blade and make sure you get all the old silicon off the bottom of the block. Also, get it out of the little crevices on the oil pan, I needed to use a dremel with a wire wheel, to get into all the little grooves. When you re-apply the silicone to the pan, put it all on, wait about 3 mins, then press it onto the block and bolt it down, when you bolt it down, dont tighten it all the way, because if you do, all the silicone with squeeze out and it will leak once its dry. Tighten the bolts about 3/4. Wait 10-12 mins so the silicone gets gummy, then tighten them all the way.

Does anyone know if there is any way that a moroso oil pan for an eclipse gsx (1G) will fit an evo 8? A friend of mine messed his oil pan up pretty bad and needs a new one/upgrade as he says. Don't ask me how he messed it up the guy is just a crazy driver. Any help will be much appreciated in helping us put his car back together. thanks

I dought a moroso pan would work. Even if the downpipe cleared, the oil return flange for the turbo will be on the wrong side.
