whining sounds coming from tranny

well, i let my friend drive it today and that jackass launched it twice and was powershifting through 4 gears with only 400 miles on the car (barely got it tuesday,) and ever since then, i have been hearing whining noises while driving, i figured it might be normal, so i kept driving, and while i was downshifting coming to a stop, when i tried to go into first at around 20-25mph, i would hear like something winding up and just spining freely, so i'm just wondering what the hell is going on, i'm thinking about taking it to the mitsu dealer, but i figured i would post on here first to see if anybody has had the same problems.....thanks in advance guys

With friends like that, who needs enemies? Break-in is 600 miles.

First, I would beat the crap out of your so called friend. I never let anyone drive my EVO for that exact reason. I feel for your pain. If my car breaks, I want to be the one that causes it.

If you car is making a whining sound that gets softer with the clutch in as you slow to a stop, your T-case is shot. That is what my car did when the T-case went.

also, dont know if this helps, but when he was poweshifting, it would make clunk noises as he would hit the gears...i hope its not the t-case, and if it is, mitsu should still cover it right it is BONE STOCK

Not sure if the dealership will cover it. If your t-case is really broken and your car has only 400 miles on it, the dealership may claim it was abuse, which it sounds like it was. Good luck.

Most likely, the dealership will be able to see the car was beaten on.

Also, you should shove you foot up your friends ****.

I didn't beat the $hit out of my car like your a$$ clown friend did. His stupid driving may cost you $3000. And I didn't pay for my t-case, the dealer did. It was replaced under warrantee. Like I said before, I feel your pain.

godamn, i dont even feel sorry for you. dont let anyone drive your car. first off, its not the tranny doing that, NEVER put a car back into first gear unless you are at 5mph or less. All you are doing is eating the **** out of your syncros doing that. No need to put the evo in first unless you stop. 1st gear tops out at 30 so you obviously dont know how to drive or you are just trying to destroy a nice car.
