anyone dynoed 4g63 w/ no boost?
that's so much work.
turn the boost off? that would be very hard in the first place since the boost solenoid is set at factory for 11 psi base.
that means, you have to some how eliminate the boost completely by flash or standalone, and while you're at it, you have to retune the engine's AFR to make sure it's not running pig pig pig pig rich.
that's a lot of work for curiousity.

i owned a GST and knew the models. the 2g cars were the most selling of all the eclipses because of engine options, and styling-yet the looked all the same. you could get the RS and make it look fast like the GST or the GSX which everyone wanted but couldnt afford the cost of the car or the insurance. a friend of mine and i suggested to a friend of his at MMNA that if they make a fwd turbo lancer, that sales would go up. it would target the specific sales group they intended-they younger crowd. it looks like an evo, yet it has not as much horsepower, costs less, and doesnt handle as well. it would really set apart the evo from the rest of the crowd because of the characteristics IMO. they tried with the marketing of the OZ edition and it didnt sell like they intended.

That sounds like a good idea, it could battle it out with the SRT4.
So first, I realize this is a very old thread... sorry. If there is a newer or more appropriate thread posit up.
on the topic an evo with no boost and/or no turbo: it actually has a solid role in several rally classes. The 4G63 ran in several cars with no turbo. Why not the evo?
does anyone have knowledge or experience with a NA evo? Even better with any NA AWD rally experience...
