Ring gear has 43 teeth, pinion has 13...
This results in a 3.307 ratio.

I may be able to use this for my project. A 3.15 from an E36 M3 or 3.23 from an M Roadster will suit me better but at least I have some options open.
Thanks everyone.

Not an EVO at all...

If I go with the Twin Busa setup (most likely) that is where the "rear end" will come into play. The '95 E36 M3 3.15:1 LSD looks like the best compromise between acceleration and top speed. Also, is the EVO rear diff an LSD? I need a limited slip for sure.
If I do go with the EVO VIII drivetrain it will all be in the transaxle. Either an RS 5-speed (LSD) and figure a way to eliminate the transfer case or a Lancer 5-speed (if it bolts up) with aftermarket LSD.

I think our gearing is almost perfect.. Until you upshift to 5th gear. At that point, the car really lays down. There's a link that tells max gear speeds above, but the mph numbers on it aren't correct. The max gear speeds for a US Evo on 235/45/17s are as follows:
1st- 40mph@7000rpm
2nd- 60mph@7000rpm
3rd- 83mph@7000rpm
4th- 113mph@7000rpm
5th- 162mph@7000rpm
As you can see, there's a 50mph jump from 4th to 5th. Fortunately, even with light ECU mods, a stock internalled can see 7800rpm with no problems. 4th gear at 7800rpm is 126.5mph, which prevents most cars (unless they have major mods and quite a large turbo) from having to upshift to fifth in the quarter mile.

IMO, above ~125mph, the stock gearing in the Evo gets pretty soft.

That is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks .

MR _gear spacing_ is way better, because the fourth is a little shorter and the fifth is significantly shorter. I don't know about the longevity of the box, since an extra gear is occupying the same physical space, but I'd be more than willing to try an MR box if I were you.
The only thing that sucks about the 5 speed is the tall 5th, but that was done to preserve fuel economy at interstate speeds.

Can anyone confirm with some links that the US spec RS has different gear ratio's than the regular EVO VIII? Since I just purchased an RS I am wondering about this because speeds vs RPM are the same in 5th as they are in my 03 Evolution, so I suspect that the 5th gear ratio is identical.... not different like that list shows.
Thanks,
Keith

Unfotunately US-Spec Evo's don't come with the JDM 5th gear ratio 0.825
Try Norris-Designs he might be able to help with the 5th gear ratio "RS"
Thank goodness I have the 0.825, 1 other thing my custom FGR is here woot! 4months wait
Installation will be done by end of this month *hopefully*
