They are not neccessary it is more of a safety item. I have 272's and I do not have arp headstuds. You will be fine with out them.

It's hard to say if you really need them. The main reason being that Evo's aren't old enough yet to see what long term problems exist. Maybe we'll findout when guys start getting into the 70K + on their cars.

People do headstuds because it's easy when you're in there doing cams. If you are doing the work yourself I would put them in. It's only $100 and some more of your time.

I've been running 28 lbs of boost for almost a year/10,000 miles + with no head studs. (Windshiled wipers work great to get the coolant off the windshield .)

No problems as of yet. You're probably fine.

I'll put them in when I push it to 40 pounds with twin 35R's

I have been over stock boost level and I havent had any issues! It's all in your tune on how your car will respond and hold up!

272's stock blots 25psi= blown headgasket for me
Now my car wont keep coolant for crap over 21 psi
as long as you dont go over 21.5 psi you'll be fine. My car didnt start acting up until i turned the boost up with a race gas tune

i would buy them
