Exclamation Locked out of EVERY gear!?!?

I had serious gear lockout today after I warmed my evo and tried to get going. I couldn't get the car into any gear no matter how hard I tried or how many times I pushed in the clutch.

After about 3 minutes of fooling around, it finally got into gear but then wouldn't get out??? I drove the car to school and back today but this happens everytime I come to a stop.

I've had a slight 5th gear scratch for quite a while now but I avoid shifting into fifth or do it extremely slowly.

Specs:
03 evo
HKS twin disk
BG synchroshift (flawless for 3 months)

I've used the search feature exhuastively

Is it possible that your clutch isn't completely disengaging? That would be my guess. You can adjust the pedal slightly so it will disengage the pedal more. It's an easy 5 minute job, so it might be a good idea to try before you dig much deeper. Just do a search for clutch pedal adjustment and that should get you to a How-To.

So many different possible scenarios. We had an issue with a broken fork.

the cltuch does sound like it might be causing some of your issues, But take the car in for the 5th gear grind, they will warranty that and replace other syncros as well.

I just tried to lossen the clutch adjustment but, I just couldn't do it. Are you sure that its a 12mm bolt? For some reason I can't get the ratchet on it and I really don't have many tools plus I can see much from the clutter down there. Sorry but I suck at these kind of things.

I can't take it in to the stealership due to the clutch and the mods, trust me the one here are real A$$ holes.

Do you think its simply time for a rebuild? I really don't know where to go locally for a check or whatever.

What are the possiblities?

You shouldn't be able to loosen it with a ratchet due to the rod going through it. Try removing the pin that holds the end of the rod to the pedal and then turn that whole piece. That's much easier than trying to loosen the bolt. Just turn it out one or two turns then tighten the bolt up snug.

Once you are able to loosen that bolt if you decide to try and adjust the play, you can just lift the clutch pedal slightly and should be able to turn the adjustment rod by hand.

Update:

I changed the tranny fluid with Pennzoil and my tranny shifted smooth for the rest of the day.

Today, the problem persisted and I also noticed that the car creeps forward slightly when the clutch pedal is all the way to the floor. So it appears to be a clutch related issue.

I'll keep you guys posted.

DEFINATELY adjust your clutch pedal if this is what's happening

possible that the contact plates of the twin disc warped. Happened to me on a cusco twin and the car would not get into gear for the life of me. Once it was in gear it would creep forward or backwards (while in reverse) whle the pedal was on the floor.

Update:

Thanks to Mitsuorder who took the time to adjust my clutch pedal. I am amazed at the improvement in clutch feel and most importantly I can shift! It seems like I've been driving around this whole time on a poorly adjusted pedal. I'm just crossing my fingers that the problem won't resurface.

This possibility seems a bit more possible to me cuz even after the adjustment, I noticed some 1-2 grind on high rpm shifts.

QAT-R,

Man it's always a pleasure to help someone as cool as you out man I was really amazed at the condition your clutch adjustment was left at after it being installed... There really is a night and day difference in shifting your car now. Hopefully your clutch is ok, let me know if you have any more grinds as the clutch might need to be adjusted back out just a hair.

Guess what? The problem is still there when I warmed up my car today although less severe. I think that the disks my be warped like kcevo suggested. The weird thing is that shift becomes better as the day progresses. I'm pretty sure that temp. has something to do with it. What do you guys think?

My car shifts like crap when it's cold and I'm on the stock clutch. The temp may be part of it. You may want to adjust your clutch pedal a little more and see if it helps.

I aways thought no matter how you adjust the pedal travel intside the car, it would still self adjust and the release point would be the same.
