install cams yourself or let a shop handle it?
Title says it all, what do you think about the installation of cams? I kinda wanna let a shop do it, just so i dont mess anything up.
take it to Dyno4mance, or like speedshop, way cheaper than dealership, and they do it ALL the time. call Andrew there, he will get you hooked up, and he is a great guy!

What I learned from doing 2 cam installs myself (with my friend) - Kevlar is not that easy to stretch. And welding a bunch of 8x1.25 bolts together to make the timing belt tensioner tool doesn't work too well, either. Basically, its easy enough with the right tools, as said before. But we tried to pry the cam gears back onto the block, because our homemade tensioner snapped in half, miraculously got one sent on, and then, on my car, with the cams and everything exposed, slipped on the pry bar, completely destroyed the filler thing on the AC line, had all the coolant/oil explode in our eyes, mouths, and all over the inside of my engine, and, when we finally did a complete r and r of the timing belt after a quick stop at the emergency eye wash station, ended up being one tooth off, and I just drove it out of time to Pruven in CT out of sheer frustration. They laughed. Did it for a good price because I am a moron. So it is doable, but unless you can laugh at the thought of temporary blindness, bring it to a shop. My opinion.
If you have replaced a timing belt then you are half way there. The lifters must be bled and you need some special tools as mentionded. Be careful with the cam sensor. There is merit in getting it done by someone who has done several of them. But is you do it yourself you can save enough to do valve springs to. This will allow raising the rev limit above 8K as you may want to make additional changes later. Zeus has a deal going on these and can answer questions on the cam install.
