Dyno comparison of stock vs GT35R

Well here is a comparison between what a stock turbo w/ all of Buschur's stage 4 parts and a mail in flash from Dynoflash (High 10.7-10.9:1 AFR) compares to a comparable tune (11:1 AFR and similair timing) with the same parts plus a sheetmetal intake and a GT35r instead of the stocker (9.8 Hotside). Both cars were set at 20psi and both obviously on pump gas.

(Make sure you are looking at the red and the brown lines for HP and not confusing the blue line near the red for the other cars HP)

I think this might help make people decide if they want a larger turbo like the GT35R or stick with something smaller. Keep in mind that both cars were not aggressivly tuned by any means but show how different these two cars will drive on pump gas. The GT35R actually only makes more power starting at 5300 or so. The stock turbo has ALOT more torque down low and around 40-70HP more down low as well.

The GT35R will really start to shine at much higher boost levels (27-30) but will still not make anymore power real low. So for all those people that wonder about turbo setups this should help you decide. I have also seen many people running 50hp more at around 4250 than this stock turbo one but you still get the point. The GT35R is MUCH slower until that 5000 range.

(Please remember that both of these cars were NOT tuned very well at all and most peoples cars on both setups should be slightly higher)

hmmm..power seems low. I would expect low to mid 400s on pump with say 22 psi on 93 or 94 oct....is that 91 oct?

thank you for the side by side comparison. i'll stick with my stocker or go to something stockish...tme, 21g, wr etc. time will tell. I'm more of a road race kind of person, so early spool is much more important.

Let us know when you get that stroker you're dreaming of to spool that 35r quick style.

Yeah the gt35r turbo kit shines on high boost race gas or alky/methonal injection but thanks for the dyno graph

yeppers...i made 489 awhp on 93 oct and 50/50 alky water injection at only 25psi (where the turbo starts to shine) . It has great potential but i would stick with a gt30r with a .63 backside unless you live on race gas or are willing to run injection to get the turbo at least a little into its effeciency range

The boost were both at 20 not 22... there is a pretty large difference between the two and also like I said.. both tunes were nothing to write home about. In fact they were kinda more like road race tunes that you could beat on for an hour and not worry about crap. Really rich and not aggressive on timing.

Yes at 25psi when I go to the track the car is a monster up high but on pump it just is a laggy bastard with not much power at all. I will get some more dyno graphs to compare both cars at around 25 psi. That will show people more what the GT35R is capable of at even still low boost for the turbo. These turbos can be ran up to 35psi with no problems. But the stocker I am guessing is getting close to capping out at 25 and thats where the GT35R wakes up so it would be a good comparison for the drag people out there. But I just wanted to put this up so people will know what a GT35r is somewhat like compared to a stocker. If you actually look at the RPMs that most people are in most of the time it is a HUGE difference.
