wana here some bs

Ok so over the weekend i install my hks 272/272 cams with 650 injectors arp headstuds and cometic head gasket. Well we get the car together and hear a squeking noise like a belt sure enough we look at the timing belt and its cut up. So stupid me listens to my friend saying how his good friend is an awesome mechanic. Since im tight for cash that day we take it apart the see what was in the timing belt cover. Turns out the timing belt tensioner tool snapped. So this guys starts taking the belt off and adjusting my timing. 2 hours later starts it up really bad pinging. So im like ok you broke something. I pull the head off sure enough cylinder 2 and 3 have cracked pistons and 5 valves on the intake side are cracked and pressed into the piston. Now tell me how much that sucks. How much do you guys think im look at as far as a bottom end rebuild cost i know my head work is costing me 1600 for porting polishing and valves and everything but how much for botom end do you think?

Not trying to be a dyck, but your asking us to tell you what a shop in your area would charge to do this kind of work. You need to call local shops and ask. We have no clue. It would only be a guess. All shops charge different amounts. Could vary by $100's of dollars.

should have rotated the engine at least 2 full rotation with your hand to see if anything comes in contact first before trying to start the car. if you are looking to make more power down the road, go with after market forged pistons and after market rods, should be around $1000+. depends on how bad the head is, you might just need new valves and valve guides, but check the complete valve train to make sure nothing else is bent like the cams and rocker arms.

I just did my bottom end and head. I put in ferrera 1mm oversized nitrided vavles, new springs, locks, guides and retainers, ross pistons, and eagle rods. I then had a machine shop port and polish my exhaust and bowl out the valve seats. They also decked my head intalled new lifters, rehoned my block and then blueprinted and balanced the bottom end. Counting parts and machine shop I spent $2700. Everything is perfect. I am currently putting everything back together and should have it up and running by the end of the week if Slowboy racing can figure out how to send the correct HG.
Remember when setting your timing, its **** up with the cam gears. The crank pulley and oil pump pulley all have tick marks as to where they need to be so you don't have this problem. I'm pulled my timing belt off many times and pulled my head off 4times and have never had your problem
Good luck
If you are looking for great prices, good customer service and no bs call Martin or Berty at The Speedfactor. Thats who I got all my parts from. www.thespeedfactor.com

i have to say it, you get what you pay for.. just get new pistons and rings, you should upgrade since your in there but thats me.. and dont forget bearings.. leave the block in the car, as long as you didnt scrape the walls.. just hone the cyl. out and pop the new one in.. dont forget rod and main bearings..

well...look at it this way- If you build up your bottom end now, you wont really have to worry about it in the future.
