i believe all the turbos are making some sound at 1psi.. mine does, and i have heard plenty of subies that have the same issue. I have a helix 02 housing though.. not sure if that amplifies the sound any.

I'd like to see how you hold it at "1psi" in order to know you are at "1psi"...

well, i assumed he meant part throttle barely coming onto boost.....

but i see where you are headed. And, i am stumped since it isn't the gasket, maybe you are over exaggerating the LOUDNESS of this?

I drove the car around being really light on the gas
the noise starts just when the Boost meter reach 0
after 0 the whistle noise starts and gets louder (since I dont have a tune for the WR yet I let go of the gas when it reach 6-7 psi

so I assume it starts a 1 psi

Just saw this thread. I installed a White Rabbit a few hundred miles ago. It is NOT 10X louder than stock. In fact, I'd say that while it sounds SLIGHTLY different than stock at 10+ psi, the difference is so slight that I can't remember what the difference was and at light boost levels it sounds identical to stock.

What you are describing sounds like a boost leak and I agree with everyone that suspects the lower IC pipe to turbo connection. That's a prime spot for a leak especially if you don't have the stock gasket there (and there IS a gasket there stock). I put mine in with the gasket and a light coating of RTV as extra insurance (since you don't want to torque those little bolts into the aluminum too tightly). I had a leak there once and it sounded just like what you are describing, except that it was a whistle rather than a hiss. It started at 1 psi and was LOUD.

Hope that helps...

tks for your comments
I was mistaken at the end I did have a gasket in between the WR and the BLACK IC PIPE. I will try it with a Thin layer of RTV tonight also change all of the clamps
to see if it will be any different.

Pressure test that sucker! It's the best way to pinpoint leaks.

What IC pipes are you using again? If they are HELIX be very carefull, its easy to crush those suckers with t-bolt clamps. And yes pressure test that bad boy, I had a boost leak I swore was the turbo outlet pipe, r and r'd that sucker 5 times.........turns out the leak was at my lower IC pipe at the IC.......pressure testing rules.

Take a belt sanfer to your lower fmic pipe where it meets up with the turbo to make it totally flat. Then use high temp black RTV sealant on the mating surface. Do not over tighten the bolts.

There is nothing wrong with his turbo - he just has a small boost leak.

I believe that LpBevoEvo was simply stating that it's just the normal sound of this turbo, not that there is a problem with it.
