I'm currently deployed to the beautiful country of Iraq. This is my second time here and I love being a soldier and being able to keep the homeland safe. I also love my EVO and I'm planning to dump a lot of cash into it when I get back. What I want is at least 480whp with meth. I'm building my engine-block and head-,rebuilding my tranny from shep, getting the HKS DLI, sheet metal intake manifold, HKS 280 cams, meth injection, etc.. I have the AEM EMS and love it. What I need are some serious suggestions about what turbo to run to get me there. I'm gonna run the fullrace exhaust manifold so all i want is turbo suggestions. I'm thinking about an Innovative turbo, but I'm confused and don't want to get the wrong turbo. I want something that will spool before 5000 or right at. I'll be able to run to 9000+ with my build so I'm not too worried about lag. I want a solid band of power when the turbo spools. I'm not worried about how much. I want the perfect turbo and I am willing to pay. So please post some solid information about turbos and help a vet out. Thanks for your time and I will be seeing a lot of you by January. Sounds like you are into a minimum of a GT3076, but that might be pushing it. A GT35 or similar might be more likely. Will this thing ever be your daily driver when you get back? I can't imagine 5000 RPM lag is fun in traffic. Keep youself safe over there. I'm an American in Dubai myself....certainly nothing like Iraq.....but I am in the neighborhood!

 

I would go with a gt35r from ams, plenty of potential there. It might put you above the projected power level you want, but once get to 480 whp, you will want more...Are you installing a stroker kit?

 

I'm building a short block so I can rev high. You can't do that with a stroker.

 

I live in the woods just outside of Savannah so lag doesn't matter too much. I get to rip the hell out of it no matter what out here. See I know all about the GT35R and the Innovative turbo that Turbotrix uses. I want something similiar to a 25G but not the Greddy kit. Are there any turbos out there like that one?

AMS wont work with the full-race mani.. I mean the turbo will fit but nothing eles.. If your working on full race mani get there whole kit. E-mail Tod at full-race your plains and he will work out a price for you. Super nice guys. Oh btw dude I think your goal of 480 just isnt going to happen, sorry..

Your going to smash that goal. With that kind of build your goign to fly past 480whp right into 500+ maybe getting close to 600!!!.
If you want a turbo that spools right b4 5k or on the dot, the stage 3gt from full-race is your key. Should spool by 4200 to 4500 rpms. That turbo uses a massive gt35r turbo I would get the .63 a/r for quicker spool so you see that 42 to 4500 rpm full boost.

but if your not wanting the greddy 35r's I would look at prescions sc line of turbos.. the sc61 is like a 35r spools a lil faster.. hmm the sc35 or 45 are both wicked turbos the sc35 would put you at your goals but with your build I would ****** a big turbo and have fun.

im stationed at ft stewart by savannah. isnt the 61 an innovative turbo? i thought it was. im not worried about anything but the turbo. doug can fabricate my downpipe and whatever else i need done. im just fishing for the ultimate turbo. take care.

That's awesome, is it oe turbo? if not what turbo is it? you know I already have the rest of these parts except the 280 cams, so if that's an oe turbo, I guess we can install that 280 on my baby the next time you're in Tampa area.

you don't even need dangerous meth. to do that goal or a built motor. I just made 489 awhp on 93 (coulda used 94 oct) and 50/50 water/denatured alky (coulda ran 100% alky and broke 500awhp). Here is a link and its at only 25psi with a turbo kit and all other items custom from slickmotorsports, tuning by switzer perf. , cams from GSC and alky kit from buschur...
