Stock Turbo + Meth or MHI 18k?

While planning my build for spring I am debating whether it is best to add meth on the stock turbo or ditch the meth and just get an MHI 18k?

The catch is I have an MR and don't want to replace the stock clutch packs for a least a few years. I have an AMS trans cooler and will have a SSP heated sump, so I figure that should help longevity.

Also please note this would be with full AMS bolt ons on 93 octane with an open source tune.

My thinking was by adding meth we could compensate for some of the stock turbos "high rpm fall off" by adding additional timing when the meth came in. I figured we could control the timing in the tune to keep any extra torque spike under control so the SST is happy. Plus I've always wanted to have a car with meth (silly I know, but hey might as well build the car for you)

On the other hand the MHI 18k would spool slightly slower (SST should be able to deal with it given torque spike is less than stock turbo) but would hold power much better up top.

In an ideal world I would hit about 380 whp and 350 wtq (I figure that's about as high as I can go and still be safe on stock SST and block and I know that HP number might be wishful thinking). Given those limits is why I originally was going to stick with the stock turbo.

Your input is appreciated.

Just get the 18k and be done. Get a good tune, and you'll be much happier than fiddling with meth.

Do the MHI 18k, and have English Racing tune it. Aaron can tune the SST to hold torque that is the safe limit for the stock short block, so you'll be good on the trans. I wouldn't mess around with meth, just seems like a hassle.

Seems unanimous to go with the 18k, so I'll go with that pared with the cast stainless manifold from map.

Thanks. Does English racing etune? I'm in NJ and they are far away.

Any recommended SST capable tuners near NJ?

Yes they do! You can ping Aaron on here, his sn is JohnBradley. You just need all the stuff typically required for etuning, labtop, tactrix, and ecuflash/evoscan..

Meth isnt fun, its either on or off. The on or off feel will eventually become boring too!
Go to Sean Ivey FTW!

So I'm leaning towards the cbrd efr7163 twinscroll kit at this point as there is no e85 within 1.5 hours of me.

Mine is waiting on the turbine housing from BW currently, you can't go wrong with the RBX kit
