I used aftermarket bolts with no spring because my downpipe does not use the donut gasket.

Sounds like you and I may have a similar issue, I haven't gotten a chance to fully check the DP yet but I believe it's leaking. When DDubb and I did the install I put a 3" UR HF Cat too, there was a leak at the Cat bolt up but I reintalled it with seal, no more leak there. But I still hear a slight whistling/ raspy sound, like a slight leak and from the thread I'm guessing it could be the stock spring bolts that we use it may not be fully tightened. The stock bolts is long, it works with the stock DP or aftermarket DP the has similar thickness of the flange. The Espelir DP's flange is thinner and the stock bolts may be ending /locking up before fully tightened. So when I get back I'll check and try some new shorter bolts, if you do it before, let me know if that worked. Thx

I re-used the stock bolts for installing the DP.

I used stock bolts also.
As far as the spring over compressing..... I strongly suggest you use a torque wrench on those! If you over compress them you'll bend the small flange on the bolt that compresses against the O2 housing. The spring forces will bring the bolt heads to the required torque. I belive it is 37 ft *lb. ....... I am having a leak issue. But it is related to the Dp not seating correctly to the old OE donut. I am subsequently ording a new one from Mitsubishi to replace the old one. Still planning on using the old bolts however. Anyone elses DP run awfully close to the oil pan?

Thanks,
tim

No leaks I am assuming. I guess I did not think of using them on my Megan.

Depends on what downpipe you have. I have the Ultimate racing and the holes are not large enough to use the stock bolts....if you use them the springs don't make contact because the stock bolts are enlarged right above the springs (to hold them on) and this makes contact before the springs do...making them almost useless ( also not many threads end up making contact either). You could probably drill the holes larger on this downpipe to make the stocks bolts work, but I never tried it.

You should be fine as this only occurs on the 05's. Megan is said to be working on a DP for the 05s that are due out in a few weeks. I will say, the welds on the Megan DP were better than on the TurboXS cat back. Very nice quality.

Mine does not touch, though it is kind of close to the oil pan. I just had it off this weekend to wrap it with exhaust wrap and try and keep the oil temps from getting so hot.

Just got done installing the Megan Turbo Back system. I used shorter metric bolts (10 x 1.25) without the spring. Not sure if they will come loose or not but I thought I would try it out.

My megan downpipe is very close to the oil pan but not touching it. It fit fine under the crossmembers and everything lined up just great.

I hope those hanger brackets hold up to the abuse this car gets.
