I've got some interesting results to share. I'm able to get my turbo to spool so fast now its out of hand on the street. I'm going to be needing some kind of EBC with an RPM based setting to control the spool.

Before I was only getting compressor surge in 5th gear on the highway. Now I'm getting it in 4th. If I hit the gas @ 4k RPM in 4th it will spool so fast the before I hit 5k RPM its already surging. I'm going to take a couple of logs and post them up for comparison.

I got it too spool a touch quicker, but nothing earth shattering. Looks like I gained about 2psi of spool time between 3500-4000. The surge I was getting was only BOV flutter.

Still though comparing my stock block to a stroker down low is pretty impressive, considering its all self tuned. I'm spooling faster then a 2.3 up until about 3700 RPM. Compared to the other 2.0 gt35r car I'm a good 5psi ahead until my WG starts opening up around 19psi.

Yeah, me making 27 psi by 5200 RPM is a lot worse than your friend making 27 psi by 5700 RPM.... oh wait.... no it isn't.

Post your setup and show the data logs, we are all interested.... not sure what "if you don't lik it throw it back...." means.

all these people that 'think' their 35r spools so fast, or 'have a friend' who spools quicker please post up a log showing proof. I think its already been proven that wha the eyes see on the boost gauge and the tach are usually different then what a datalog w/a map sensor tells you.

any 35R's on IX's with logs to show if there's any difference in spool compared to 35R'ed VIII's?

i know there are some logs here and there on this board, but putting them in this thread would make this thread more informative than it already is

I would love to see more data added to this thread!

i just sold my 35r kit and within a couple of weeks I will be installing/tuning it on another EVO with identical mods to mine (none basically, HA). Only difference this time around is that I gasket matched the manifold/hotside.

I think it will be interesting to see the difference the port work did to an already FAST spooling setup.

Well since this thread has been brought back from the dead, I figured I would comment on the whole eye balling the tach/boost gauge to logging with a map sensor comparison. I'm running a non-bb 50trim so my logs would be useless for this thread however.

In 3rd gear, I get 26psi by 4.5k logged via a 3.5 bar map sensor. If I were to go just off what my eyes tell me, I would be quoting 4-4.1k full spool(26psi) numbers.

It just bugs me when I see spool up numbers tossed around on this forum based simply off what their eyes tell them. It's just not an accurate way of doing it.

I'd like to see a 35R'd IX compared to a 35R'd 8 also.

Fusion, what's up man? Long time no speak. Where you been hiding lately?

bringing this back up again since I've noticed a bunch of people now have 35r's, its becoming a pretty common turbo these days for EVO's.
