GT35r spoolup answers here

Here is what a GT35r spool-up looks like. This should help anyone that ever wonders how laggy a turbo it truly is. I find it perfectly streetable but by that I mean it drives on the street.... it doesnt spool on the street unless I know I am going to race it. Here are the important mods:

Stock Motor, Stock head aside from 272/272 Cams, Magnus Sheetmetal Intake, Buschurs Intercooler, Equal Length Header, GT35R (.63 AR with the small E-Cover), Full turbo-back exhaust (No cat, tubular O2 housing), normalish timing (Not diving timing tremendously trying to help it spool earlier), and obviously all other support mods.

The car will BARELY hit full boost in 1st gear roll-on (Hits full boost at around 7.1-7.3k) This log is from a second gear roll. Anyways, hope this will help people decide if they want to go to the dark side of large turbos or not Personally i dont mind it but you will not be autocrossing the car.

Now dont let this mislead you too badly... third gear will spool quicker and 4th even more so (Quicker meaning lower RPM) and the does start to pull very hard before full boost but none-the-less... this is the true spoolup. I wish I would have had this equipment when I still had the stocker to display the difference... oh well.

Are you trying to say GT35R's won't hit 20psi by 3000rpm like the internet keeps telling me . I am shocked.

I like the spool up. stock turbo can't even get 18 psi with 2nd gear at high rpm. I bet gt35 r will pull really hard after 5k even in 2nd gear. when you are tying to go fast, you have to be in that rpm range anyway. gt35r will be my turbo someday.

ouch, three seconds to spool from 3 grand to 5 grand. that's terrible lag. There's more to life than top end...

****Remember people, 15psi on a gt35 is ALOT different than 15psi on a 16g!!!! Just because you aren't at full boost doesn't mean you aren't making power!****

I want a 35r someday but not on a stock motor..If and when I build my motor to make the 35r happy I will go for the big toys. Heh I still think my stage 1 feels fast. Cant wait to have my stage 3 (gt3037 turbo)

Then why would you log this in 2nd gear and not 3rd or 4th? There isn't enough load on the motor in 2nd gear and this is the same reason you do 3rd or 4th gear pulls to tune.

Please do a run in 3rd and a run in 4th so I can compare my results to yours. I haven't done any logs of a 2nd gear pull because it goes by so fast.
