There is a quick rundown of my boost response in 2nd gear with a GT3582R from precision turbo. That is with a surge-ported S .70AR comp housing and a .82AR T3 turbine housing. The turbo is on a 8.5CR 2.0 4G63 (but in a 1g awd dsm), mounted on a shearer motorsports tubular header with Tial 44 external/hallman MBC controlling boost. Spring pressure is 24psi, with mbc set to 33. Data is from AEM EMS datalog.
The overall gearing/ 2nd gear ratio/tire size is different, so the load on the engine is also different. That could account for the slight differance.
notice that it still takes significant time to go from 20psi to 30psi. There is no "full spool at XXXRPM, it's a continuous curve.

This is data from 2 different turbine housing/manifold configurations.
The pink line is with T3 .82 AR turbine housing on SRP header in 2nd gear.
The purple line is 2nd and blue line is 3rd gear pulls with a Precision "DSM bolt on" turbine housing (apx .6AR) mounted on a stock cast 2g dsm exhaust manfifold. This configuration had the tial 44 external mounted on the o2 housing with the same spring pressure.
I just thought this would be interesting data. I unfortunatly don't drive this 1g dsm on the street, except to and from where I keep the trailer. No 4th gear data. Im going to try and hunt down a log with a bogged launch at the dragstrip to get data for first gear.

What you also need to remember with the 35r is that your power band is still 3-4000 rpm depending on the gear. You just need to rev it to 8k. When you shift from first to second to third..... at 8000 rpm, you have good power and the car pulls like mad. No lag when shifting at 8k.
I would suggest anyone considering a 35r drive one and see if it is something they can live with. For me, the 35r is acceptable, though I don't have one.

Amazing to see your .82 A/R housing spool up just the same as Trina and I on the .63 A/R housing! Perhaps the data would be better on a 3rd or 4th gear pull. Do you have any data logs of that for comparison?

the gearing and tire size is MAJOR ISSUE, that makes comparing my turbo on a 90 talon to your turbo's on evo8's not exactly apples to apples.
Im going to install an SCM61 turbo on my evo8 with what's left of my BR440 turbokit (sold the 440 turbo seperately) probobly tommorrow. That is the same comp wheel as the GT35R turbo, in a To4E comp housing. It's a standard bearing cartridge with a T350 76 trim turbine wheel in the same "bolt in dsm" ~.6AR turbine housing.
Ill get spool data for that turbo the day I install it for all gears on the evo. Then we can have something to compare with.
BTW. in the 1g awd dsm, the gear spacing between 1 and 2 gears makes the lag "undrivable". With an 8500rpm WOT shift, I land at less than 4500rpm. At that level the turbo is at less than 13psi and the car just sits like a dead dog. ET was pathetic for the mph, the car went 10.99 @ 131 with the .82 AR turbine. Nothing a big nitrous hit isn't going to fix though.

standalone ems and you could raise your revlimiter a bit, so you could benefit from that late spool up.
with headstuds.
and a built engine, 9000 rpm redline. :O

very nice Trina. If you need hosting for your vid, let me know.

Er 30r and a 2.4 liter would be pointless you would have no topend, unless you really like AutoX uhhggg hehe. If you are going 2.4 liter I definitely think the 35r is the right size. It would spool up more like the 30r with the extra displacement. Even my 2 liter with the 35r isn't that bad. Yes you have to spool the ***** to really go, but how often do I need that much power on the street anyway unless i'm passing in which case I would be revved up.
Just so my info is near here on this thread... this is my setup:
GT35R Precision Turbo - .63AR Turbine House / Tiny E-Cover Compressor Cover
Shearer Headers
Tial 44mm Wastegate with (What was) .7 Bar spring
Halman Manual Boost Controller (Ceramic Ball/Spring type)
Full 3" Exhaust - No Cat
Shearer O2 housing
Magnus Intake Manifold
Custom Lower IC Pipe, Buschur Upper IC Pipe, HKS SSQ BOV
780cc (750cc) Injectors, Walbro Fuel Pump, Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator
HKS 272/272 Cams, Stock Bottom End, ARP Head Studs
Stock Gearing, Rebuilt Transmission, ACT 2900lb pressure plate, stock flywheel, street disk
Guages, Wideband, TurboXS Utec
BR8ES Plugs, Stock ignition otherwise
Stock Maf
That is pretty much the rundown. I plan to run it at 30psi or so on saturday and figured out that the Zeitronix version I have will not read past 25.5 so I will need to tune it by the voltages from the kavlico sensor. And yes... this is the true turbo spool-up. I doubt I will hit full boost in 1st gear from a roll at 30psi. I will get some logs from an FP3052 (Close to 3076r) and see if I can post them up for you guys. It is from a DSM with different gearing so like DSMotorsports said... its not going to be apples to apples but will give a generic idea.
Also, all these logs are from a tune designed to be at 5k and higher the whole time at WOT. If I really try to tune the low rpms I may be able to pull a bunch of timing and get it to spool a little quicker. Car spools real quick at -5 degrees of timing

Fre, are you even familiar with some of the GT3040 turbo setups? Ive seen many, many cars making 550+ whp with them, and Ive also heard a version of the GT3240 is on its way from other sources than HKS. The FP 3065 turbo is also a likely candidate. Ive seen that I can achieve full boost almost 800rpms sooner with a 3040 by several dyno graphs I've been emailed by some Evo owners in Australia, and still achieve quite a bit of useable power. If it doesn't work, I'll sell the turbo and concede, but Im going to try it first before I just jump on the "ME TOO" bandwagon.
