If you're in Maryland you should probably give Jackson Auto Machine a shout. They're in Odenton. Good work but pricey. Also you might want to give Slowboy Racing a call too. They're up in PA.

No the block should be fine.
What head gasket are you using? Studs? Torque?

If you can't find a shop, you can ship me the head and I can have it resurfaced with a diamond bit resurfacer. (end up with a low RA for head gaskets like cometic)
It would take 3 or 4 days with shipping. I can fedex it back.

And speaking of the cometic, I loved it. No comparison to stock, it is one sweet head gasket.

replaced w/ new stock gasket, arp stud - but used stock bolt tension sequence instead of apr instruction. stock seq called for 59lb, loosen to 29lb or so then 90 , 90 degree. I don't think that caused it. This was reocurrence after overheating...

I had posted another thread about the origainal prob of overheating. My friend took the head off then cleaned, examined it then put it back. For that night, the car ran great w/ full boost and no leake no smoke. Then a week later I see same prob with cy 1 and 2 wet w/ coolant...help!!!

You can't use the factory torque spec with studs. You have to use the ARP method but bump their numbers to 80 or 85 ft lbs. for final torque. I will get you a price tomorrow morning and the cometic gasket just go to Cometic.com, look up the Evo gasket (.054 MLS) and call them. They may not have any instock but they are the cheapest for price since it's direct.

Do you think the most likely reoccurance of the leak is warped head?

I have same exact observation as first time, cylinders 1 and 2 wet w/ coolant.

Engine cranks and turns, just does'nt start. Again, it ran fine after cleaning and resealing the first time.

Just want to make sure that resurfacing the head would solve it once and for all...

BTW, Cometic sites MLS .51, C4157-051.

No the most likely occurance is the head torque.
The service manual method is way off for ARP studs. I would say they were grossly over torqued if you did 29, 90 deg. and 90 deg.
I honestly don't think the studs are any good anymore since they are over stretched.

That is the gasket you want.

For the cylinder head it would be $65 to resurface and ship it back to you via Fedex overnight.
The other option you have is to have the head resurfaced and pressure tested. This would be $115 shipped. 4G63 heads are not know for cracking but it is always possible. This would rule out a crack since each port is pressurized to make sure there are no cracks.

If you are interested, let me know. Ideally I would need the head by Wed to get it to him. He is not working on Friday.

Have you called Cometic about the head gasket? I am curious if they have them because they had to make me one and it took 2 weeks.

wow, good info!

I'll need my friend's assistance to take out the head out again. But this time I want to do it right w/ right torque, fresh cometic gasket, new studs and pressure test and resurface of the head.

I'm not sure when we can can take the head out, hopefully by this weekend. Then I would like to ship it out to you early next week for pressure test and resurfacing!

Cometic will ship it out for this week's delivery.

Thanks a million for the help!

I'll keep you posted...

70 (with ARP lube) but 80-85 is the consensus.
Some people have had leaks at 70.

They don't provide stretch numbers for the head stud so as long a s they don't exceed thier length then it really doesn't matter.
I know the rod bolts were not properly stretched at thier recommend torque. They were a little short of the proper stretch.
