blitz settings for MichealK

micheal

would you be able to note down the setting you use on the blitz for the boost setting and the speedmap function.

and a quick question: with the chassis dyno function on the power-id, how do you get it to clear and rerecord.

Lee,

I'll have to check, will probably get to do it on Friday when the car could be registered again. o.k. I might go to the garage and have a look especially for you....

Anyway, I'll try and remember the settings for now. I've used the speedmap function once, but have changed it back since so I basically use two channels. I like to call the "cruise" and "attack" channel
On cruise I have the boost set to 42 and gain at something like 8 (this I really can't remember).
On attack I have 62-65 and gain could be 15 (don't know). This is when the car boost around 1.5 bar.
I'll map the car using the speedmap function when I have it on the road again. They way I had it was lots of gain and boost from 0-50 km (or something; 1.5-1.6 bar) then less gain but still a lot of boost (1.5 bar) to about 100 kms then going down to 1.4 until about 160 and then 1.2-1.1. You really have to test those settings and play with them, especially gain. Cause when boost fluctuates, it is most likely gain, unless you try and run stupid bar at high speeds. I've had the big-end bolts changed, although I don't think it makes a difference...

As for the power meter, I'll have to check, although I think there is a reset function somewhere in the menu

nice units, i thought you might be able to map by revs, but i will have a play with the speed map.

i have my "cruise" on 0 which apperently is stock boost and "attack" on 65 which gives me 1.42 bar

how do you find the scramble function works, all ok??

lee

ps. how do you look at a persons car profile as i want to have a look at claudius's apexi units?

0 should give actuator pressure which is 0.75 bar, I think. I don't use the scramble function cause I think it's dangerous for the engine. Just click on "registry" in the top bar and it will take you to the cars registered there.

Lee, couldn't reply cause LF was down last night. Anyway, no settings cause after I made it to my car to open it up for the first time in months, becauuuuusseeee............................. the battery was 100% dead, not even a click when turning the key. I think the alarm has gone off at some point cause the car's on a palet which can be lifted and lowered.

I don't know what to call the thing it's two-floor hydraulic parking, but the things kinda look like pallets.
To change the settings quickly, you just have to press the knob (no, not that one) and turn, through that you can either change the channels by pushing again when on them or directly the boost settings by pushing when the "cursor" is on it.
I was actually getting to writing my settings down, cause I started my car (couldn't resist) but then the carbon monoxide alarm went off in the garage and I had to turn the car off and leave. Anyways, I should finally register my car tomorrow morning and then I can drive and charge the battery properly.

Lee, my gain varies from 8-10, depending on the channel. This is for channels that I run through the rey range. I'll speed map my car in the near future and tell you my findings. Last time I did it it was very high gain at first and then lowering it as the car goes faster.

Well, it's press-turn; press-turn; press After a while you'll get used to it. I can do it _fairly_ reliably without looking now. Started to map with speed. So far my first channel is too long, the seconds o.k and the third has just way to little boost. I think it was 71 in the first, 68 in the second and then only 45 3rd and 40 in the last. Means quite a steep drop in boost when travelling faster than 120 kms I think. I'm mapping in kms and suggest you do the same as through that you have a finer ability to map. The Evo is never going to go faster than 200mph....

Yes, I have noticed the accuracy problems too. The problem is that if you don't EXACTLY hold the speed when calibrating, the difference will get multiplied as you go faster. It's a bit ****, really. Mine shows less than I'm actually doing. Have changed the map a bit, basically Ch1 until 40kph and then Ch2 until 120 then Ch3 until 180. I raised Ch3 to 55 and Ch4 to 50. Not very good yet... but getting there. No testing today as pissing down with rain (plus I think I should get my money's worth out of the company car )

i am pretting pleased with this unit, i cant get claudius to explain to me the benefits of rev based boost (on the apexi) with standard internals any ideas??

what is the company car?

The company car's just a Seat Toledo V5. I actually quite like it, very good value for the money (and less taxes to pay, than let's say an Audi )
68 in 4? Not bad, I was running about 70 or something through the whole rev range for some time until the hose connecting the intercooler and the turbo popped off at 140 mph. I don't think it was too much pressure, just my POS blow-off valve which makes the car judder a lot.
There is benefits to both speed and rev mapping, the best would be both at the same time, i.e. some sort of three-dimensional graph. I think that's only possible with the high-end ECUs though. Otherwise my boost map did allright on the Ring last weekend (only two laps, but still), just my POS PE ECU made me problems with the flatspot that's there under hard acceleration. I'm tending towards the car actually overfuelling when I lift off the throttle...
