japan and blow off valves
Someone that is deep in the industry told me that the Japanese tuners rarely ever use blowoff valves. Anybody from japan please comment on this. I got my car the other day and it does not have a blowoff valve yet. but they tell me this is normal in japan. They will install when new parts come in but until then I will be driving like this. I have no problems with dieing or hesitation. it totally sounds different, it sounds like a cho cho train but with a attitude. thanks
That choo choo train sound you are talking about is your turbo getting its A s s kicked by compressed air backing up against the compressor wheel.... you are drastically shortening the life of your turbo everyday that you continue to drive your car like that.

IMHO they are not neccessary and are a useless mod for an EVO. I have read numerous times that they cause more problems than good for most EVO owners.

yeah my friend has an S13 with an Ca18 in it(previous model similar to sr20 except with iron block) and the motor doesnt come with a stock BOV...he was like BOVs are useless! well...after a few days of hard driving his turbo basically self destructed..the last few days it sounded like ****...
but what if the car has a big turbo. have you ever think about pressurized recir air hitting the inlet turbine blades at let's say 20+psi to spin backward???
most of turbo charged cars shown at best motoring (japan) video were equipped with BOV vta.
