japan and blow off valves

Someone that is deep in the industry told me that the Japanese tuners rarely ever use blowoff valves. Anybody from japan please comment on this. I got my car the other day and it does not have a blowoff valve yet. but they tell me this is normal in japan. They will install when new parts come in but until then I will be driving like this. I have no problems with dieing or hesitation. it totally sounds different, it sounds like a cho cho train but with a attitude. thanks

IMHO they are not neccessary and are a useless mod for an EVO. I have read numerous times that they cause more problems than good for most EVO owners.

That choo choo train sound you are talking about is your turbo getting its A s s kicked by compressed air backing up against the compressor wheel.... you are drastically shortening the life of your turbo everyday that you continue to drive your car like that.

I agree that its killing the turbo. luckily I don't have to worry about that because if the turbo dies they wil replace for free.

That would be if the blow-off valve was VTA. I think he means that they told him having absolutely no blow-off valve, not even recirculating stock, is okay. All turbo'd cars need to have a way to vent built up pressure when the throttle plate closes, otherwise the choo choo train will compressor surge the turbo to death. (And yeah, that choo choo is a very bad noise to be hearing).

but what if the car has a big turbo. have you ever think about pressurized recir air hitting the inlet turbine blades at let's say 20+psi to spin backward???

most of turbo charged cars shown at best motoring (japan) video were equipped with BOV vta.

I don't know who you spoke to in Japan but I can't beleive that they would not vent the charge pressure around the compressor.
