Help Please! i need an answer!

Sorry i posted for an answer in this thread hopefully i can get more responses in this title.
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=147690

The short of the story is ever since the ecu was reset after installing the downpipe and high flow cat i have been getting a crazy boost spike and hitting fuel cut. the spooling will start at around 2500 rpm now and spike fast to over 25 and hold around 24-25 at around 3000 rpm. my main question is could this be anything other than a tuning problem? so will a tune fix this... or is there somewhere else i should start. i dont want to have to take off the high flow cat and downpipe if i dont have to just to test it. if it is just a tuning problem. id rather put my ic piping on and get it tuned then have to take everything off.

thanks for any help

i do not have an mbc nor do i really want one, i was planning on getting the boost controlled dynoflash if al ever makes it back down to so cali, but i wanted to make sure it wasnt something else other than the ecu not knowing how to regulate boost and airflow with the new parts. so if a flash can fix it then ill put my ic piping on and wait for the flash.

should i bother getting a boost controller or should i just go with a dynoflash and isnt the ebc how the ams car broke because their ebc freaked out during one lap?

ok new problem has evolved from this, i was gonna put my stock downpipe back on and stock cat back on to see if i could choke the airflow to see if it was the ecu just not being able to read the extra airflow. well apparently the dealer cross threaded the screw to the downpip cuz its all twisted out of shape and i cant get that side off. so i just put the stock cat back on and im still getting the same overboost problem. any other suggestions as to what could be the problem other than putting on a boost controller?

also is there a way to fix the cross threaded screw, is what the downpipe bolts onto the o2 housing? would changing that fix the problem of the cross threaded screw? cuz when trying to unscrew it feels tight instead of making the springy squeek like before, then it will stop unscrewing after a few turns. so i cant get the bolt off

any help would be appreciated

A metric 10x1.25 tap should fix the downpipe bolt. As far as the boost spike you're really gonna need a boost controller to fix it. Mine did exactly the same when I did a quick test drive after installing just my exhaust. 5 min. later I installed the mbc after 3 quick pulls I had it dialed in to 20 psi with no spike or taper.

Are you positive that your bolt is cross threaded? If it starts to unscrew and then won't come out any further, then I think something different might be happening. The O2 housing might be stripped or something. Or the bolt is bent. I would definately try to fix that problem before your boost problem. Or if it's not leaking, then just leave it alone and get a mbc.

yeah its not leaking, thats why i just tightened it back in and i plan to get it fixed but bringing it back to the dealership ... yeah lets just say they are retards. so the boost spike is because the factory boost solenoid or watever controlled by the ecu doesnt know what it is doing? and any suggestions on a sturdy ebc that wont break like the one on the ams car?

The Greddy Profec B and the HKS EVC (I had the IV) both have worked well for me in the past.
