my custom diy 05 dp

Here's the dp i made custom for my 05' MR.

-it clears all the lower tie bars without spacers.

-is fully 3 inch from the 02 housing to all the way back.

-still uses the factory doughnut.

-built from burns premium 304 16 gauge ss.

-tig welded.

-vband connection.

Not too shabby for DIY. But there are too many welds. How much did it run you? You can get a helix for 215 and one from MachV for about the same. At least it's smoother and better looking, polished and no welds except on the flanges.
-tig welded.

no way i can compete with helix in terms of price, and i don't intend to. i built this mainly just for myself because I love making things.

I just installed the TurboXS and it fits very nicely. It comes with small (I've seen much thicker) aluminum spacers, it's all stainless, and it has one of the best prices.

More power to you! If I tried to do what you did, it wouldn't look like a downpipe I assure you. In fact I probably wouldn't know how to construct a flange.

I should have been more specific, Im sorry.
We have luck with both the 65 and 70 mm units. Both of which are NOT 3". 2.55 and 2.75 respecfully
I would venture to guess that is why we have never had fitment or performance issues.

believe me if that dp could be done with less bends and less twists and cuts, and still fit the way it does it would have been done. the acd transfer cases make 3 inch dp fitment a real fabrication task.
and as far as not being polished, weld style, cuts ect... this is the way real race car exhaust systems are done. built in the USA by hand.

BTW, nice work EFIxMR! How many 180 degree u-bends did you use to make that downpipe?
