Should change name to smoked.....clutch!!

Just smoked my clutch. Need any advice please.

ACT street or RPS max.

ACT I heard has only a 2900lb pressure plate and the RPS has a street clutch that has a pressure plate up to 3900lb's

the price difference is about $200 but is saving $200 worth it. Or am i just going to be getting a new clutch inside 3 months

(occassional track) normal daily spirited driving around 300whp.

THanks for all of your answers. I did some research but I never saw a diffenative answer to which one was better and why.

ONLY 2900lb?? That's a lot...the stocker is 2200. The RPS PP is 3900lb? Holy crap, that's HUGE. 300whp daily driven with occasional track should work quite well on an ACT w/street disk. I have no info on the RPS.

Well than I was mis informed. Someone told me the stocker held 3200. If the ACT holds 2900lbs and if the stock is 2200, then I guess the ACT would work just fine.

Just don't know why such the price difference. Let's say the the RPS and the ACT have the same torque holding capacity, why would one be $200 more??? Is it just the name that you are buying into. Or is the RPS max just slightly better and lasts longer?

Just curious. Want to buy the best clutch possible without over spending. no reason to get a carbon/carbon clutch for a daily street driver with no track testing....right?

^ lol, go with ACT. I think it was trinababe who has about 450WHP on the ACT and it lasted like 50 launches or somthing like that and tons of highway runs and whatnot.

ACT. RPS, I've driven it, it feels like ACT, but as it gets worned down, it does'nt grab as hard as act for some reason....

it could be the driver most likely.

anyway, ACT. Also, check out the x clutch or no name. They seem to be a great clutch as well.

(yes, i'm trying not to be too bias toward my love for my Act Clutch.)

Thanks for everyone's opinion. So does ACT and RPS max have the same 2900lkb pressure plate. Cause if they do, there is no reason to buy the RPS for $200 more if they hold the same power.

Thanks again for the answers.

in my opinion, the ACT gets the nod for being the best streetable clutch out there right now that doesn't break the bank - nice to drive, holds the power, easy to get replacement parts

The only RPS clutch I have driven in an Evo was their max series, and the pedal was extremely stiff

Where to get best price on ACT?

I too just finished using up my clutch, at the last autocross. Any advice on where
to get the best price on an ACT street clutch for the Evo would be appreciated.
Please reply to this thread, since I think others will be interested (even if they
don't know it yet).

Also, do I need to replace my OEM flywheel, if it's still okay, or is it compatible
with the ACT disk? If I need a flywheel, any recommendations?

Thanks.

from what I have seen the best prices are here on Evo M. Just check around with the different vendors. They all seem to be in the same price range. Around $480. Also from what I understand yes you can use the OEM flywheel with this clutch.

Check out Z1 Performance, Lancershop, and others. They all have competitive prices.

When my clutch goes i'm going to replace the flywheel aswell, no-sense in paying for a clutch install twice so you might aswell do it at the same time. As for which flywheel to get? I know most people use the ACT/Fidanza combo and like it alot, ACT is releazing a new flywheel in a few months that looks like its gonna kick ***
