Broke again

Well this is the second time my drive train has taken a dirt nap. Instead of just going to the dealer to fix it(voided warranty anyway due to a straight pipe) I am hoping that there is company I can send my tranny, transfercase to and have them rebuilt and beefed up so I wont have this happen again. Im not looking to race it out I want it just as drivable as stock but I dont want these problems any longer. Im willing to spend around $10g's if neccesary. Any websites I can go and look at this stuff or am I pissing in the wind.

What's this thing with 03 and TC/Tranny? I don't think I've seen much complaint from the 04/05 guys. These TSB need to be recalls!!!! sucks!!!

I bet there are alot more breaking than you here about. Send it to TRE or SHEP both are great, but look at the abuse Shep's tranny's hold up too.

That's where my 3K would go and put a KAAZ in the front diff instead of a stocker while your at it.

Your warranty legally can't be voided because of a straight pipe. There is a law that was passed that states a manufacturer cannot void the warranty of a part unless they can prove that an aftermarket part directly caused the failure of the stock part. Even if they can prove that an aftermarket part caused the failure, they can't void the warranty on the whole car, only the stock part that was affected by the aftermarket part. Your transmission has nothing to do with you exhaust pipe, so they can't possibly say that your exhaust pipe made your transmission break. You should be able to get them to repair your transmission under warranty, but they won't beef it up for you.

If they can prove that you've been racing or abusing the car, however, you're out of luck. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the tip guys!!!! Like I said before this is the second time ive been through this!!!! The first time Mitsu. made me pay for the labor but they covered the parts and said I should be gratefull because they could do nothing at all.....they also stated it would be the last time. Well I just got back from the dealer today(a diff. one) and I explained to him the problems and he heard them when he test drove the vehicle. He says the tranny and TC should be coverd under warranty and he will get on it right away and get this taken care of. Only thing that bothers me is when it has to be approved by the main guy thats over TX.(no names) Any way lets hope this goes well and then I can send it off to TRE......any other suggestions on items to go ahead and upgrade while im at it. I know I need to upgrade the clutch but I want one that is drivable for everyday. I have looked for the kaaz unit and not found one...not sure if this is something worth investing in. Im sure gears will have some advice.

I've seen many people try to use this law against or stearlership and have failed. Stealerships know this law and yet they still void warranty. In the end it boils down to how much $$$$ do you have to the lawyer.

can always argue that the extra power made by the parts you added caused the part to fail because it exceeded its designed stress limit .... its simple if you want a warranty don't mod.

Send the tranny out to either TRE or Sheppard depending on who is cheaper and closer to you.

I refuse to let them use that arguement. I would just argue that the tranny and transfercase were out of spec in the first place and over time it got worse.
