will AC on spool turbo faster?

Thinking about this on my way to work this AM.

After observing a lurch as I turned on the AC full blast while under power and feeling the drag on the engine pull the car down a mph or two, I then over compensated by using much more throttle than I usually would, and the turbo seemed to hit especially hard.

Same theory as going up a hill. More load = more exhuast =faster spool ?

Is this the same effect as "brake boosting", purely my imagination or did Works tweak the AC map aggressively on my flash?

Thoughts?

It won't spool faster but you feel it hit harder.

Why woudn't it spool faster? Wouldn't the problem be the continuing drag once spooled?

HAHA, you need a clutch switch wired to your AC to turn it on during shifts, then back off quickly when boost is back.

IMO it's a good question. i notice that i spool to full boost faster while accelerating in 5th gear vs 3rd. to my understanding this is due to load. now i think the turbo will spool faster when ac compressor clutch packs kick in because it will cause more load, but i don't think you'll see any benefits of this due to the extra parasitic loss that's coming from driving the ac compressor.

theorectically it should spool faster. Now with the hp lost, that's another story. But the a/c kicks off at wot anyway right?

It will spool as low as possible rpm wise the more load you put on it, but without a doubt your cars actually acceleration will be slower.

the compressor cant keep up with the 7000 rpm at WOT, you can feel the compressor turn off at about 5k WOT

When you're sitting in traffic in 90 degree weather AC is your best friend. I'm sure people in Texas and AZ would agree.
