How much of a difference in spool up is there between the GT35R w/.63 and the GT40? Rpms?

How much of a nitrous shot would you need to use to get the GT40 to spool quick and make it usable at the track on a stroker 2.3l (obviously 1/4) ?

What the heck is a GT37 that Al(dynoflash is referring to) and how does it compare?

What can you do to a GT35R to make it able to produce close to the same hp/flow as the GT40?

What are the MAX psi you can safely run on all of the turbo's without going outside of the efficiency range of the turbo?

GT35R @ (_?_)psi
GT40 @ (_?_)psi
?GT37 @ (_?_)psi

Thanks for your replies!
the smaller the A/R, the faster the spool up. on ?'s 2 & 4 you may to contact Garrett on that one. on ?3, you wouldn't need NOS if you were running an actual 2.4L block instead of a stroker. & if you really are looking to make the most power, you need a Greddy T88. it's been proven over & over again in the UK & has pushed EVO's into the 212mph range. GT40 is probably a cheaper option but no one has been brave enuff to test it. i suggest the GT42!

Thats more like it Jasil. Thanks for the info and the website.

Thanks for the GT35R map SpeedFactor.

I am going to learn how to read a map correctly because the person who told me a while ago was not very good at explaining it. They admitted they didn't know everything about it too.

I think I am going to go with the GT35R, but I want to know more about this GT35/40 combo. I am looking for something in the area of 650-700whp on C16 or VP 120. I would like to reach this goal without the use of nitrous, but I am not throwing out the use of it just yet.

AMS is running a 35R, TurboTrix is on one of their cars, Bushcur has 2 cars running a 35R, Al had a 35R, the notorious "Black EVO" had a 35R, Magnus has been doing 35R's since they came out, 3 NABR member's have 35R's.

RNR is running a 40, Bushcur sold some 40's I don't know of anyone else running one.

Al now has a 42, the "Black EVO" has a 42, AMS has a 42 on the car when they drag it, Magnus has a 42 on his car.

Why buck the system? A rule of thumb when sizing a turbo for a application is use the smallest turbo that will get you the HP that you need. Anybody will tell you this. Why use a 42 if a 35 will get you there? It just presents more lag into the equation.

The 35R has been proven to be reliable in the 35psi range putting down in the excess of 650awhp and putting almost full weight cars into the 140mph trap range. If your saying to yourself right now that "No, I need more power than that 140mph won't cut it" I would then look at the 42 are or nitrous on a 35R. Full boost on a 35R is between 4k-4.5K on a stroker, which is still a fair amount of lag compared to the stockers 3.6K, but more than acceptable.

You can look at compressor maps at http://www.turbocalculator.com/garret.html there are no maps for the GT series turbos.....at least they are not available to the public.

I have to stress the importance of bringing your car to a proven shop. Buschur, AMS, TT etc have been around for a long time they do this every single day. Some of these shops have produced 7 second cars. Buschur's blocks are used in Shephard's car! AMS has turned out more 35R's than any shop I know, TT has the fastest EVO8. All of these shops can build you a 600awhp++ EVO and all will stand by their work. In the end the parts used will be similiar this isn't rocket sciene, but experience is priceless, so don't use some fly by night shop.

As far as spool on the larger turbos you will have to wait until Chris's car is done or call Martin at AMS and ask them what type of spool up they saw on there 42. Al's and TT's car have a 2.0 so apples to oranges there.

Go read the drag racing thread from TopnotchEVO he has all these mods from all these different vendor's, tuning issues etc, talked more smack then you know what, and ran 12.4's. Buschur built the black car, tuned it, went to the track and ran 10's@135mph+ all in a time frame of 2 weeks....and it should post better times since he coaxed another 40+hp from it. Lesson here take it to a PRO!!!
