Ignition
the DLI-II can be used with a 4 coil setup.. Its not as easy as using an AEM C2DI for the ignition box, but it can be done.
The DLI-II is a Transistor and CDI system, which enhances the spark output of the stock coils, but the stock coils still have their limitations (when they overheat the output drops) so I can see the benefit of using individual coils and coils designed to recycle faster.
I am building my third ignition system, my first one used a motec CDI box, a DSM ignitor, and motorcycle coils, then I went to a stock set of coils with an HKS DLI-II, and newest setup is a home-built AEM C2DI setup with 300M coils..
I'm fairly certain that you can easily use the DLI-II with individual coils, but you will probably need to use a DSM ignitor between the DLI-II and the coils.

The quick answer is YES.. its an expensive upgrade, and not necessarily worth any gains in power if your ignition system is already working perfectly, but at higher boost levels and with worn plugs, it can make a big difference.
I've written this before, this kind of mod enhances drivability, idle, and improves spark quality at high RPM under high boost. It won't give you any gains in power if your stock ignition is working perfectly, but it will eliminate misfire at idle, and reduce misfire at high RPM due to higher boost.. This is worth power.
You have to weigh the value of this though, its not an essential upgrade, and its value per dollar is subjective.. For me, I'd never run a modified car without an upgraded ignition.. Others are making 500hp on the stock ignition system and not having issues. I do think that you are leaving some tuning on the table compensating for a weak ignition system though..

1. Swapped plugs to BPR7ES and gapped them to 0.025, but that dod not work.
2. Went one step colder on the plugs and gapped them to 0.025 and that did not help.
3. Got an iginition booster, but that did not help.
4. Now I have gapped the plugs to 0.022.
Now I have come to the conclusion that Mitsu used a margianl igintion system at best. !-2 psi over stock and you will get those spikes.
Since you have built a 4 coil system, can share with me how you did it and what parts did you use?

Just so you know, the spike in LM-1 doesn't neccessary mean misfiring. I have DLI-2 and it didn't make any difference in terms of the LM-1 log. With a misfire, it will most likely show on your TEC log with repeated or lowered RPM than the preious line of log.
FWIW, I know I am able to enlarge teh plug gap without signs of misfiring.

I have built 3 different versions.. right now I'm testing an HKS DLI-II with stock coils, and honestly its worked as well as the two previous setups, one was using 4 motorcycle coils (959RR coils and a Motec CDI2), the second is similar to all the ones you can currently buy, which is 4 chrysler 300m coils and a AEM C2DI.. I do plan on trying to use the DLI2 with an individual COP setup in the near future to see if I can get benefits in any way.
