ACT clutch - poll on problems

Since someone suggested a poll reference the % with problems I thought I'd start it. Please post only if you have owned the clutch and directly experienced the "issue"

This is reference getting locked out of going into gear during high rpm shifts. If you don't shift at high rpm 7000+ please don't post

Yes, my ACT seemed perfect for the first 2 months and first 15 or so drag passes, but suddenly I was no longer able to shift quickly above 7k rpm consistently, and within the night, I became no longer able to shift at 7k+ rpm in any gear EVER. It's like hitting a brick wall when I try to shift fast and hard. Before this, I used to make every shift seamlessly without even a 2nd thought. Now, I am barely able to shift at all (when drag racing).

The rest of the time while driving around, it shifts beautifully without any grinds or lockouts, but the moment I get on it hard and shift at high rpm, I'm doomed...

I was the same as Warrtalon is now. I was locked out about 7k. I even had the problem with the 6 puck. I removed the restrictor and everything is going good.

Are all of you guys with the bad ACT clutch going for the Exedy twin disk now?

I heard nothing but good reviews on that from everybody and all of the people who have it really love it.

Its just so expensive... not everyone can afford it.

I'm thinking I'm going to stick with my stock because it hasn't caused me any problems ofcourse I haven't done any drags or launches with it yet.

I could spend that kinda money on alot of other engine mods that will give me more power ofcourse maybe that will help my stock go out.

I went with the ACT race 6 puck. After removing the restrictor I have nothing but good action with it. I can't say whether the street disk would have the same with the restrictor removed. The 6 puck is so light the shifts are amazing. When this one wears out, I will be replacing it with another of the same.

All of a sudden people have been complaining about ACT clutch but then a couple of people seem to be fine with it.

I'm not a drag racer, but I do want to have my sprited moments driving and launch once in a while. I'm really having a hard time debating on these clutches.

Whatever for now, I'll just stick with my stocker until I have problems, I'll worry about it after that

Im at 3k miles and I havent been locked out of gears with my act street / prostreetfly. 7k rpm shift is slippery to me and I havent mis yet. Im hoping those lockout symptons will not occur soon, I have a feeling it will with everyone's review on the act. Well it might be time to save some money for the exedy twin

My problem, is probably like most other people. They think it's the trans causing the problem. After removing it, I'm 99% sure it's more the restrictor in the slave cylinder, then the clutch. But I only removed that when the 6 puck was in the car(though was still having the lock out with the 6 puck).

Can the poll be modified to include problems w restrictor in/out and no problems w in/out? Either that or if people could post it.

Have you tried adjusting the pedal yet? You can try taking out the restrictor out as well.

I've only had the clutch for a week and am not haviing any lockout issues but I am getting a wierd high pitched rubbing sound. It sounds like someone scratching nylon and it gets louder the higher the revs; anyone else have this?
