its all up to you, and what ever your goals are... IF you really want the most out of ur exhaust get a test pipe if not just go with a high flow cat, A high flow will let you pass emissions but you wont get as much gain as a test pipe or if you want a minor gain a downpipe is still good. I put my downpipe in a couple days before my tp and i felt a difference already.

Well I don't know if it is worth to keep a 3" Downpipe with a stock cat but I know for a fact that the flages on the stock cat bolts on just about any aftermarket Downpipe and /or cat back.

On my opinion, do it right and get either a 3" test pipe or a 3" cat, some companies have them really cheap like Logicperformance.

A 3" downpipe is definitely worth it. You would be creating a bottleneck with the stock cat in place, so I would recommend a high-flow cat/testpipe, depending on emissions of course. I have an Apexi GT downpipe and I had it bolted up to my stock cat for a little while. Pretty much any downpipe will bolt-up to the stock cat because they all use the same flanges.

If you get a test pipe, make sure you do one of the two OBDII cheats.Either the mechanical fix or the electronic fix.I have a Helix dp and testpipe with the mechanical fix.It took about thirty minutes to put the cat back and remove the OBDII fix to pass my yearly emission test.
