Maybe your dropping boost because you are not tuned to that intake yet. A lot of people told me not to inastall it until i got the reflash or else i would loose some HP.

I have heard the same thing. But I wouldnt expect you to loose boost because of it. You wont gain much, if any power from the intake uless you get tuned for it.

The design and flow of the factory intake it pretty well designed. Thus, some sort of tune is needed to actualize the gains..

I am going to go over it again tonight. However, yes I am pretty darn positive that all of the couplings are on there good and snug, and above the lips on each part.

Thanks,
Nathan

I am driving down to the ATL to get tuned this weekend by Al. Therefore, I will take my stock airbox with me in case I need to put it back on.

I am going to have someone double check my work to make sure it is on there correctly (clamps and couplings). We will see what happens.

Worst case scenario, I put the stock box back in (which is good for awhile). Sell the intake, and use that money to go towards some cams or alky injection

Thanks,
Nathan

There was definitely no leak. There is no perfect explanation for loosing boost. Another EVO owner in my area had also put the same intake on his car (HKS replica). He is a XEDE owner, and is very very good at tuning cars. Even after he put his on, he couldnt get it to boost correctly either.

I had him check my installation, and everything was perfect. We basically came up with the conclusion that the intake sucks. By looking at the build quality on the inside, it looks a bit choppy. It is not a perfect replica of the HKS. And it is possible that the smaller filter is not drawing enough air to allow the turbo to boost above a certain PSI. That is the only logical assumption that i could gather.

Other than making assumptions, we cant give a logical explanation for its issue. All we know is dont buy it. Stick with the real HKS RS or the Injen Intake.

Sorry, I couldnt find an exact answer. However, by the real HKS RS intake and you should be okay.

Later,
Nathan

Is this typical for a car that is untuned for an intake? I got my car with just an Injen intake and upper IC pipe and that seems to be the case.
