GSC cams with cracks

I've had my GSC cams in for about 8000 miles now. I took my valve cover off today to replace the gasket and noticed little cracks in the lobes. A friend of mine who used to work in a machine shop says it looks like heat cracks. They are very small, but if you scratch your fingernail over them you can feel it catching. Is something that I should be worried about? What can I do to remedy this?

I would assume they have not had many cases of this because most people havent pulled their valve covers again

Cracks in cams = not good. Just think about it, what if one was to crack while the engine was running and some of the valves were left open with the piston barrelling in to them. I say take them out ASAP, send them back. One of my friends had an aftermarket honda cam break on him and it destroyed his engine.

I was talking to my friend that owns a shop yesterday and he also mentioned the visible quality problems with the buddy club cams.

I've always beleived HKS makes the best cams. I have some friends that work there, and beleive me these guys are scared to death about liability issues. I cant even walk in the warehouse. They play everything way too safe some might argue. I trust their cams. My friend told me their machine shop in japan is incredible.

Cracks are the reason everyone emphasizes you never ever drop a camshaft, and be extra careful when you're buying used cams.

Where do all the other cam companies get their blanks? Could it be a bad batch? HKS does cast their logo into their cams.

The workmanship looked to be of much lower quality on the GSC than the HKS...tons of left over welding material left over on the edge of the lobes, etc.

I'd be very surprised if it was the same machine shop making both cams...unless they purposely make the GSC ones lower quality.

From my understanding HKS makes these themselves.

I wouldnt be suprised if the GSC/Buddy Club cams are made by crower. Lately they seem to be subcontracting/private labeling hard parts for companies.
