Front O2 CEL?!? any fixes

Just got finished getting the cams, turbo, manifold, and 02 housing in, but now I am throwing a PO134 code. Anyone know if I can use a simulator on the front O2 sensor w/o any issues. I am running a sim. on the rear and it works fine. I really don't feel like buying a new sensor. I have a feeling it is a combination of having the injectors/fp and cams w/o a tune that is throwing this sensor off. I am running pig rich (soot/gas drops coming out exhaust on start up). Does anyone know if this code will put the car in safe mode and make it run even richer???

Why do you think its the front 02 ?
Is this the code for insuficant flow or something like it
Ive seen the sim cause problems b4 (insuuficant flow/slow to respond)

My code reader said it was on the first bank O2 sensor which would be the front one. The rear is fine, I have had the simulator on that one for months w/ no issues and on my old evo w/ no issues.

The PO134 code is as follows:
P0134: Heated Oxygen Sensor No Activity Detected [SEMSOR

Does this mean I have a dead sensor or what? Also wondering if the code will affect performance in anyway?

You meant Bank 1 Sensor 1 Because 4 cylinder engines only have one bank.....

If you have access to a scan tool with current data functions, check to see if the voltage is changing on the sensor..The sensor may have been damaged during your install.

That's correct bank 1 sensor 1 . My scan tool is only able to read/erase codes. I am still debating if I should try an 02 simulator so that it will at least be picking up a false signal. I wonder if anyone has tried this on the front?

Your A/F's are based on what your MAF and B1 O2 is reading. If you put a simulator in it. Your ECU won't compensate for the extra load at WOT.

I ran cams and a fp w/out a tune for 3 months and never had a code thrown.

I think you might have damaged it with the work you've done. If you sprayed the sensor with rust penetrant. It will kill the sensor.

I'd get a new one put in and be done with it. Peace of mind.

Are you sure that the sensor is plugged in? You might want to check under the plug wire cover. You can't use a sim on the front O2 because the stock ECU uses it to keep your car at 14.6:1 in normal closed throttle cruise.

I had same issue when I replaced my 02 dump pipe. Turn out to be bad/broken o2 sensor. 250$ or so fixed the problem. That was the most expensive upgrade i ever made for the least results

He's right. If you put a sim in there, you'll probably do some damage. If you need a cheap oem fit o2 go to www.oxygensensors.com , and do a search for a 2003 Evo. They've got walker oem fit o2's for 99.50. I've ordered there before and everything was on the up and up. You don't want to half *** this one, or you'll blow your car up.

Thanks for all the responses guys, looks like I will be purchasing a new 02. That link was very helpful to save a guy like me some cash. I would much rather spend 100 vs 250 thanks
