It idles nicely, but we have one of the best EMS tuners on the left coast. It makes power all the way to 8.5-9K on our 2.4

RNR can you compare HKS and TOMEI?
Which one do you like more?

The Tomei also has equal duration I/E. The HKS numbers on all cams use the duration of the intake cam but the exhaust cam has less duration. HKS 10.8 lift / Tomei 11.5 lift (Procam).

I have never tested them back to back, but I would assume the Tomei make more power.

The Tomei 280s and the HKS 280s cannot be realistically compared (on paper) unless we know the effective duration at 1mm for the Tomei cams, and I don't see those numbers published.

One big difference between the HKS and Tomei cams are the lobe centerlines. Both the HKS and Tomei have intake cams ground on 110 deg lobe centerlines. The HKS exhaust cam is ground on 110 deg, while the Tomei is ground on 115 deg. This is like taking an HKS exhaust cam and advancing it 2.5 degrees. What this does with an HKS cam set is smooth idle at the expense of some midrange torque and spool time. We can't say for certain if and to what degree this would apply to the Tomei cams (especially given their asymmetrical ramps), but I'd definitely opt for a set of adjustable cam gears nonetheless if I were going to purchase this cam set.
