I was told the mounts are hydrolic, and they are not leaking, if the harmonic dampeners/shafts were off, the car wouldnt run, or wouldnt run correctly. The mechanic wasnt there when I showed up tonight, but the cam-gear cover is off, must be looking for something. the other DSM drag friend (not DRAG QUEEN!) said it is just because the damn thing just shakes to beat the band, and it is that vibration which is causing bolts to loosen, things to crack. will have more info when I talk to my mechanic tomorrow. Will keep you posted.

Yes, it sounds like the front side balance shaft is out. When you do a timing belt, its easy to think your on if you're not paying close attention. I'd hope a Mitsu tech would know...

No, The timing belt will not break, at least no right away. Sounds like your balance shafts were installed 180 degrees off. This happens during cam changes when the Balance shaft tool is NOT used by the installer. Get this checked ASAP. If you drive or race, you will definetly Pound the motor to death...

To be more specific, this problem didn't happen during a cam change. It started around the time I put on a weapon-R engine dampener. My mechanic at the time said: "all the engine vibration is now going thru the body of the car". I removed the dampener 3K miles later, and the problem persisted. So the problem wasnt after any upgraded part added. the triple carbon clutch was added shortly after that. this problem has been there for 10K+ miles!!!!

how about that triple exedy you had on your car installed wrong..it couldnt of been good on the crank and the thrust bearings..if the crank is walking around in there would be all kinds of vibration..have ur mechanic check the endplay of the crank

Will do. The vibration isnt there at idle, it isnt there under acceleration. it is there if I am driving, get the RPM's over 4k, and just let my foot off the gas. THATS when the vibration is there. (thru the seat). Does this help?

I listed the time of the vibration wrong. It DOES also occur when accelerating. it starts around 3800 RPM. and will continue till I shift. then its gone until I get to the same RPM (3800)

Update:

appears all is good with the balance shafts, everything is in order. Just pushing it off to Vibration. Mitshu tech tore it down enough to check. Will keep an eye on it. Motor is comming out in the winter anyway. Stroker? GT35R? who knows, I will look for dammage then I guess.

Everything was checked out, and are fine. balance shafts, etc... I guess it is just the vibrations.
Update: Was driving the car Thursday PM. ( I told them I had friends comming in from out of town) and we went to dinner, I pulled the E-brake, and the lights came on in the dash (Battery/E-brake) and they stayed on. Wife took it to the dealership, and they told me the Alternator is BAD! is this a vibration issue? or just my luck! Car is now down and awaiting a oil pan (14 days out), and an alternator!

Does Mrs. Smoked know about this yet?

If you're planning on changing your block or having work done to it, then give me a call when you're close to deciding on it. After my build experience (some good, some not-so-good), I've got a few thoughts on what to do/not to do and I'm sure I'll have even more once I finally can get my beastie onto a road course.

I told my wife the engine has to come out because I dropped my favorite 10mm socket "somewhere in there", and have to remove the motor to find it!jk. She doesnt care really, just need a solid month of buttering her up!. actually, I am not sure on what/if I will do anything. Stop by Putnam park when you come home with the beast, will be running there on sat/sun 8th and 9th. should I dispatch a trailer/truck? I have the trailer, can find a "tow vehicle" if needed.
Ludi, am working on air diffusers rear and sides for our cars. aluminum prototype and then carbon fiber. will keep you posted! I definetly will "pick" your brain whenI decide to do radical motor work.
Thanks!

If you're working on aero parts, then we NEED TO TALK. I was about to start (before the broken clutch, grr) working on almost the same thing (front undertray with splitter, full body undertray with sideskirts) and I have a Vishnu rear diffuser in my garage. The undertray design is still giving me some headaches, but I think I've got some good ideas for the full-body undertray and side-skirts - should be pretty easy to implement.

I know you have been doing something in this arena, Vishnu wont sell anymore undertrays (unless group buy), I have sheetmetal fabricators, welders, carbonfiber guys waiting for prototypes from me, etc.. too busy right now. will get together on this soon though!
