new vibration problem. My alterator went out! 300+ dollars. When they opened the hood, the 4 bolts which hold it on vibrated/wiggled themselves off the car!! could this have been the wiggle the whole time? will let you know, If I drive it, and the vibrations are gone, i guess so!

any updates on the vibration? I may have the same problem. I thought it was the dp but I replaced it and there's at least 1/4 - 1/2 in gap and I'm still getting vibrations @ 4000-5000 rpm.

my alternator looks fine, tho.

check the bolts on the AC, where the AC connects into the compressor (behind the passenger light) also make sure the bolts in the area are tight, Alternator etc... I put heat wrap around my Downpipe, with aluminum shock tape, and still get the vibration. I think it could be a pulley which warped? not sure. ripped a serpintine belt on the dyno at Dyno4mance, this was due to the AC aluminum pipe breaking and digging into the belt. Andrew replaced it 2K miles ago, alternator changed 300 miles ago (bolts walked out, all 4), oil leak from oil pan got into the alternator and ruined it) did track day on 2 mile road course last sat and sunday, when I was strapping the car to the trailer, I noticed "wires" in my passenger caliper up front. popped the hood, and low and behold, the serpintine belt is SHREDDING again!! bad enough, if I did the PM session, it would have broke at speed!! With all the wraping, and even an engine dampner, I STILL have the vibrations! I will have a FULL answer tomorrow, on why this is happening! I will let you know, as soon as they tell me WHY! I will not take ther car back without an answer. I even vibrated my coilpack bolts out of the car. 3 are finger tight, 2 are laying in the "pit" where the plugs go, (dont use a sparkplug cover) The people who are working on it (family Mitshu) are real honest and good with my car, they always have been, and my **** mechanic wants an answer also! will post tomorrow their and possibly your answer.

Got the car back last night, they could'nt find anything wrong, as to why the belt came apart this time: ie no bolts missing, no brackets cracked. They did say they know why the belt "probably" came off. They had me look down at the front lowest pulley while they reved the motor, and the pulley would move in and out a little. The mechanic said to bring the car back, and they will focus on that pulley, and see if something is wrong in that area! I will post what they find!

I just got my car back and the vibrations are gone. Tuning Technologies replaced one of my pulleys (forgot which one) and it runs really smooth now all the way to redline.

Hope you get your vibration problems fixed with your Evo.

I don't think Unorthodox would be the way to go in your case. You're already getting a lot of vibration, so an undampened pulley probably won't help at all. I'd replace all your pulleys with new stockers.

Lets say its the harmonic dampner, If I drove it like that (vibrations) for 5-8K miles. will there be any residual damage done to other engine parts? Thanks in advance!

I guess I never said the final results of the problem. It WAS the balance shaft out of sync. problem done. But then a few months later I spun a bearing!! Residual dammage? who knows, all is good now.

Are you running the balance shafts in the stroker?
