Changed front driveline fluids . . .

. . . but couldn't figure out how to get the Diaqueen into the rear diff.

I have a funnel with tube, but where the heck can you put the funnel to get a good drain into the rear diff?

Car is at 17,500. Tranny fluid looked new and the drain plug had zero shavings on it. Transfer case oil looked a little whipped, but no metal shavings there either.

Any help with this is appreciated. I checked the HOWTO's, but it never describes how to get the fluid in there.

thanks,
ac

i had to pump mine in for that same reason. Check your local shop, maybe they'll let you use theirs?

Hmm, a pump. I'm assuming you mean some sort of hand pump? I'll poke around at Advance and see what they have.

That Diaqueen stuff is like maple syrup. It took forever for the front diff to fill.

Oh, and word of advice: take out the airbox to fill the tranny. It took me a half hour to figure that out, and only 5 minutes to do. After that, filling the tranny is easy.

Car drives just fine now. The shifts seem a lot more buttery, but you can still feel some of the "notchiness". I haven't tried any hard shifts at high rpms yet, though. I switched to Amsoil GL4 75w90 synthetic gear oil.

Thanks for the replies.

I used pump on both rear diff and front transfer case.

In autozone, it is under $10

I think I found what I need. Both Ace Hardware and Sears sell a MityVac hand pump with a lot of tubing for about $12. Sears is a lot closer than an AutoZone to me, so I'll check them out tonight.

Thanks for the help!

That is identical (albeit with a different name) to what Sears and Ace sell. Probably a chinese company makes the generic and every store puts their own trade on it. . .

Thanks for the help. If I find it at my local sears, I'll post the part number.

And you aren't kidding about the cleaning. I had to degrease the funnel three times to get all this stuff off. Next time, I'll just soak it in Dawn for an hour or so.
